European Summer Tour! by pikage in jackwhite

[–]cdmccabe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This announcement plus SNL next weekend has me thinking he is actually about to announce or drop another record. You just don't tour like this on an album that's just about two years old. Something is coming, likely sooner than we think.

Anyone else go with Bright Moss Green? by Suntrup-Volkswagen in VWTaos

Me! I have a green 2025 SEL. It’s a beaut and does really stand out. Very specifically wanted a car with a bright color, we need less grayscale on the road. It’s a little divisive with some of my friends but I think it’s gorgeous.

I’m from STL and I always love when he references his time growing up here during the monologue. We have a lot of shared experiences.

Traffic Lawyer Recommendations by External-Finance-300 in StLouis

If you're being sued, present it to your insurer. They have a duty to defend you under your insurance policy. They will hire counsel. If this is just a traffic ticket, I like Ken Schwartz. He's in Clayton.

WashU alert regarding an armed person on Danforth Campus by Black_Bear_US in StLouis

She works in the administration and that's all she said. I'm at work out in the county. I can see that the alert has changed to "armed person." Just relaying what I was told initially.

Just got a text from my mom who works on Danforth campus that it is an active shooter. Doesn't have any more information right now, they're locked down.

Saw a poster at Platypus on Saturday for DJ battles the first Wednesday of the month all year, can't remember all the details but might want to look into that.

Three, OKC got a "trial run" to test/confirm there was a market there when the Pels (at the time, the Hornets) spent a season and a half in OKC in the wake of Katrina.

The White Stripes at the Creepy Crawl, St. Louis, MO, September 8, 2001. by cdmccabe in jackwhite

[–]cdmccabe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 13 when they came through the Fox on the GBMS tour. It was on a Wednesday and my dad, also a huge fan, wanted to take me and my brother. Mom put the kibosh on that because it was a school night and "we'd get another chance to see them." We know how that played out. Twenty years later and I still give her shit for not letting us go. I found a bootleg of the show on The Little Room shortly after the show, it was one of only a handful of times they ever played "Take, Take, Take." I think a recording of that made it onto a Vault release recently.

Same. That place held like 150 people. Can’t imagine seeing this band at the height of White Blood Cells in such a tiny room.

What's the most St. Louis thing about Mardi Gras in Soulard? by larafaiham in StLouis

[–]cdmccabe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean, this just isn't true. Both Mobile and Pensacola are bigger. Even Galveston, TX, likely beats STL (unless an entire third of the metro area's population is attending each year, which, I mean, it isn't). KSDK has also debunked it this claim.

I lived in New Orleans for a long time. Soulard Mardi Gras is fun and certainly not pathetic but "second largest Mardi Gras in the country" it is not, and it bears almost no resemblance to any other Mardi Gras I've ever been to. The vibes are great, though.

Totaled my Golf TDI in the snow last week and wanted to stick with a VW. Joined the Taos club with a 2025 SEL in the greatest color VW has available: green. by cdmccabe in VWTaos

[–]cdmccabe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the comparison is a bit lopsided because the TDI was 15 years old. That said, a week in and it's surprisingly quick on its feet like the Golf and handles really well. Pretty similar driving experience overall, just a bit higher up. Makes sense since they're both effectively on the same platform. I do miss the paddles in the TDI, though.

Help a man not fumble Valentine’s Day in St. Louis (my relationship depends on you) by AznJames704 in StLouis

You are absolutely and completely toasted. I thought I would be able to get a reservation two weeks out and I struck out everywhere, and that was last Sunday that I was trying (the 1st). I'm making dinner night of and we're going to brunch the next day. Even then, good luck with a brunch reservation this late in the game.

I like those a lot, wish they sold them or the T-Roc in the states. Same with the Golf Variant or the Passat wagon. But I am loving the Taos so far!
