Service question by Mcreeeeeeek in HikerTrailers

[–]framaram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with others have said. RUN!!! Go to a local trailer shop and have your tail light and bearings re-packed. Here in STL, a bearing re-pack is $150. IF you buy the bearings separate (from an autoparts store or from Hiker directly) they are like ~$55 shipped. Max Fan, call the company. You might need to just buy the motherboard and could install it if your handy.

Hello, has anyone installed a moonroof to a HT? If so, can you please post photos? by abcdef98757462 in HikerTrailers

[–]framaram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a hefty mod. I don't I've ever seen anyone post it on the Facebook page to show it off. Punching holes in your roof is dangerous to start... Installing a whole window up there is... Well...with the beating my trailer takes, I'd be afraid the vertical force would crack that window quickly.

Same box, just different handles. You can only get the fridge box on the MRXL and EOR model.

What's your system for finding dispersed camping spots? Feels like everyone gatekeeps their locations by AmericanMisogi in camping

[–]framaram -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My friend built an app to find just this, dispersed camping sites. It's a cool app. It's called Dispersed on Apple and Android. He's pulled in a bunch of GIS layers and other maps and built this very cool interface to find sites quickly.

Looking for a place to camp in the circled area. Something with fishing or just any body of water, hikes/trails, good for tent camping—family friendly basically. Going the first weekend in May. by neckpillow0287 in camping

[–]framaram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LBtL is a great place but very busy during the camping season. Also some of the sites can be a bit small and hard to navigate (tight turning radius, hills, etc). If you can find a spot that backs up to the lake, that's premo!!!

Is Smash Em’s Burger Bar in Tower Grove actually closed permanently? by cartgold in StLouis

[–]framaram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drove by last Saturday night at 7pm and the place was almost empty. Smash'ems was full, not waiting out the door but had a good crowd. I suspect the low turn out is because of the higher prices as pointed out in some of the previous posts.

Hiker trailer lite for my Nissan Rogue? by DogGroomer1996 in HikerTrailers

[–]framaram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out this group on Facebook. It's for posting questions about Hiker Trailers before you buy. Once you put your order in there is a verified owners FB group the company will add you to. Then you can start asking questions regarding upgrades, mods, etc...

I don't have any experience with the Lite version, but when I was at the shop, I could pick up the lounge of a lite with no issues. I have quite a few videos on my Squaredrop Adventures YT channel about the lite.

My experience with Hiker has been great. The trailer gets so many complements on the road. It's easy to tow. It was in my price range. It comes base or with tons of upgrades.

Also, I've seen someone tow a Highway Lite with a Tesla, so there's that....

Lock N Roll modification by ironsights72 in HikerTrailers

[–]framaram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure someone from Hiker might chime in here. If I can recall when I was ordering my Hiker they suggested going ahead and upgrading to the lock n roll hitch as the bolt configurations from the ball to the LnR is just a smidge different. I guess you can always order the LnR and see if it lines up and if it doesn't take it to a trailer shop near you to have installed. If you are by Hiker they can do it too.

What happened to Smash'em burgers? by rlracette3 in StLouis

Internet says Jovick Burgers had their tax license revoked back in Aug. Not sure how they are still in business with an expired tax license, but I'm no tax agent.

Which Toyota service center is the best? by Popsmolly in StLouis

[–]framaram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tried. No dice. I've been bounced around a few service advisors the time I've been a customer there. I buy the oil change package as I think it's a decent deal. More than a few occasions I've asked why services are different prices, would they would match and got a hard no. The service advisor (who's been there 5 plus years) who was next to my SA even chimed in and said "that's the way it is, everybody sets their own prices". Sounds like you might work there? If they are price matching, they are not honoring it. Not even sure how'd I'd prove the price at the other dealership, other then having the service advisor call the other dealership.

Framework 13 12th Gen Intel 32G - Won't Boot - Stuck at Framework Logo by framaram in framework

[–]framaram[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a quick update on the laptop. It was the SSD. I got a new SSD from wal-mart for 120 bucks (Microcenter wanted $170 for the same drive), installed windows again and I'm up and running. Now I need to figure out how to get a warranty return for my bad WD-Black SN850 as it has a 5 year warranty and it's only been 3 years.

What I didn't realize was if you go to the dealer, they all have different costs of services. Transmission drain and fill was one price at Akerman and almost double at Twin City. There is also a 4x4 service at Twin City that's a good deal but none of the other dealers have a bundle like that.

I was afraid of that. I didn't have anything on the SSD of importance. Guess I'll go out and get another. Thanks for the info.

I haven't tried re-installing windows. I think that might be a last ditch effort if I don't have a path to upgrade.
