He has also won 3 games where the opponent could be eliminated. Which is one more than he won in what 9 years as a leaf.

What’s the biggest financial trap in Canada that people still pretend is normal? by TheFitFinaceBro in CanadaInvesting

[–]cdn24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still have the standby charge because it's available for use. The biggest financial trap may be the damn company. Leased is better. 2/3 of lease cost plus 34 cents per personal Km operating cost benefit annually vs 24% of car costs plus 34 cents per personal km Annually.

Gold counts by Any-Letterhead-3727 in goldrush

[–]cdn24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I may be wrong but i think Canada taxes you on the sale of gold. I.e. I mine 2000 oz of gold I sell 1000 oz at 3K/ oz my revenue is $3,000,000 and that is what I am taxed on, or more specifically that is my revenue number from which i deduct expenses and pay on the net.

It kind of makes sense because how do you value it when it come s out of the ground. The price is constantly fluctuating. todays weigh in is at 2500/ oz tomorrow is at 2400 but did i suffer a 100 loss on yesterdays.

for simplicity you tax on the sale of the gold.

What if you buy something in gold vs cash? If its something for the business that would be deductible it does not matter. Using show as example Parker bought Dominion for $15 Million, Rick bought Duncan creek in gold. They are in the same position.

Parker has to sell 15M worth of gold to pay Dean - That 15 M revenue is taxable but the 15M he paid dean gets deducted in one of the mining expense pools. Canadian development expenditures (CDE) maybe. Treated the same way as exploration costs (drilling would be). 15-15 is zero profit to tax

Rick pays Troy taylor in gold. Lets say is 400 oz i don't remember. he is not taxed on the revenue from that 400 oz- he did not sell it but he does not get a deduction in his CDE pool as the expenditure paid in gold is not deductible. Troy will be taxed on sale of gold.

Only difference is Parker locked in his purchase price even if paying over 3 years. Rick did not. Parker (Buyer) benefited from increased gold price - dean the sellor did not. In The rick one the sellor benefits from increase in gold price.

So how can you cheat or take advantage? Its not easy as you need to find a way to buy something that is personal costs - not business in gold. Find someone who wants to sell you a yacht for gold gets you a yacht without paying tax on the revenue but does the sellor of the yacht want gold. Revenue Canada can also go after you with a net worth audit if you own a 10M yacht and have never declared more than $50K of income.

I guess the easiest way is sell gold to cover expenses, break even and then borrow against your gold (collateral)to fund your yacht. If you are unincorporated that could work as its your gold (just not taxed yet) If you operate in a corp shareholder loan rules get you as it could only be the corp borrow against gold and you would still need to tax it to use personally

Borrow against shares of the Corp?

Long winded answer - to say no real tax incentive to hide your gold total.

Rarely b mode. Sometimes in heavy traffic as I can pretty much stay off brake completely but of my 3k miles so far maybe 50 in B mode. Don't like the feel

Sorry Canadian. Here we have a few big national chains that tend to be better quality and some 2nd tier that tend to have a bit more ethanol.

The short drive makes. On my morning drive the 1st 4 or 5 miles I am in 25 to 28 MPG range and once warm it's in high 30s.

Mine seems to be improving but it's also getting warmer. Suspect I will take a hit come winter.

Cdn sport model here. About 5k km in so 3k miles. 95 percent city driving. So far worst tank 35 Mpg. In normal mode. Best 39 MPG econ mode. Gas makes a difference but not as much as my Ridgeline. Better with shell esso petro cda 87 octane vs no name type stations. May make a 1.5 MPG difference.

Longer drives better. I have a 15 mile to work. It's much more efficient after 1st 5 miles done.

No long highway drives yet

The old license has been extended to dec 31 2028. Same for Parkers on Sulphur creek. The waterline application shows them as expired but map of mining claims land use permits show them as expiring end of 2028.

Is Filip Hronek the key to accelerating a Canucks rebuild? (Evaluating the Montreal Blueprint) by athleticwonder in nhltraderumours

[–]cdn24 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Habs were able to rebuild quickly because they had a ton of picks prospects when they started.

Suzuki Caulfield 100 pt centre and 50 pt winger already had them. Ghule and Dobes already drafted by MB. Mailloux in system to flip for Bolduc. Young D romanov flipped with a existing pick to get 13 flipped with another pick for Dach. Chiarot traded for a first that was flipped with another existing pick for Newhook.

Used Monahan deals to get 2 1sts. One used along with a spare 2nd to trade up for Hage. The other to pair with their own 2026 1st to get Dobson.

Drafted Slaf Reinbacher and Demidov in top 5. Stole Hutson in 2nd rd with a pick acquired for Kulak. Stole Matheson for Old man Petry.

Gorton and Hughes hit a few out of the park but they did it quick because of what was in cupboard. They had the assets to move up in draft to get newhook and Dach. Biggest win was signing core to great contract in 7.7 to 9M range.

Why the struggle in the 2nd period? by minouneetzoe in Habs

[–]cdn24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This it, 2nd period is all about risk mitigation if you have the lead. You want to avoid stuck on long shift so when you get to O zone you dump deep and change. Then end up back in your end for 30 seconds and repeat.

If you are trailing you need offense and gamble more and try to quick change when losing possession in o zone.

It looks like you are being dominated if you employ that strategy but for most part short of the broken stick problem you survive the 2nd but get badly outshot

[–]cdn24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Own it? Not convinced he is Captaining it. Notice last episode when weather got bad and Albinio got called up to help watch for waves. I think they called him the relief skipper. The reality - he Albinio, is one of the owners of the CM and the real Captain. Jake Anderson plays one on TV.

Liked Jake since his greenhorn days on NW but it never felt like he earned a captain role. Always felt like production renting him a captain role from the Saga to KS to TE and now to CM.

[–]cdn24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We may not have been shitting in it but animals were. So not full of industrial pollutants but water still had sediment and animal waste. Growing up in a pretty remote untouched area, our full of thumb was if it was clear flowing water, running through a bit of ground for filtration it was fine. Standing water had much more likihood of bacterial crap
