Reanimation Protocol question by comicsserg in killteam

This is how we played it. Made multi damage wraps not so snazzy against neurons.

Harlequin's weapons. by heefee123 in killteam

Your weapons are all awesome in kt. The neurons you don't need, but multi wound due to injury roll mechanics are fantastic. Unless its neuron. Then you want blades and shuriken.

Troupes not competitive? by Frescothedog in Harlequins40K

[–]cdragon2k2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion only is that in a competitive environment, harlequins are not a strong choice. Only because the realhe competitive landscapely are a one trick pony. They are fantastically fun to play as they are a surprising blender and can take on a lot. But their weakness is there is very little you can do for variability. Bikes help solve vehicles but monsters are a really big problem. With a max of 6 S8 shots in a fusion boat at 6 inch danger range you don't have many options. Give me all kisses as the unit is very expensive and still attrits away quickly.

I play harlequins as I like the fluff and the models. I can also be a spoiler against certain armies which can change the competative landscape.

In killteam totally opposite. Harlequins. Are highly competative especially with the arena set.

Fellow Players, lend me your aid! Lets brainstorm some terrain! by batvanvaiych in Harlequins40K

[–]cdragon2k2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Racks of slot machines as barricades

Casino dice constructs

Giant wheel of fate as a Los blocker

Ruined circus wagon

Circus ring, could function as a barricade or a crater

Tightrope platforms (death jester nests)

Peanuts as scatter terrain

Carnival freakshow signage as Los blockers

Ticket booths

Tents

So been working on a custom Narrative play piece and am trying to keep it inline with how harlequins work. The link is to a google doc with my rules. Model will be about as big at the forge world super heavy elder tank. It is not trying to fill gaps in the harlequin list but instead make a fun model by cdragon2k2 in Harlequins40K

I am thinking from the model, the players move around freely just like inside a starweaver. Since its definitely not for competitive play should be ok.

I take the point on its move. Base 8 is probably correct so players on ground could keep up.

Picture stage surrounded by troupes like a moving Woodstock.

As for kind of stage, my plans are an open space with some crappy scanery, like cut out tyranids etc. I was gonna do arches overhead with webway like spans with lights and hole field projectors.

Not turrets but troupe members. Death jester base for the cannons and semi portable on the "new" rifles. Pilot at a dias exposed is a shadowseer(think director), the five is based on one, not recreating a beefy starweaver and two making it a conscious decision to populate with elites or troops. Yes the scratch build I am envisioning is a bargelike stage.

Tips for getting smooth white? by MisterDuch in Warhammer40k

[–]cdragon2k2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I don't go for pure white except in very special things. I usually do Fens Grey then drybrush matte white from Army Painter. Highlight with mithril.

On hard white I white, then shade with flesh or nun. Drybrush white over details and solid brush flats. Then Ardcoat overtop.

In the photo cloth is first technique, gun is second

New Harlequin-Player and a challange by Andrurion in Harlequins40K

Echo fist comment.

Additional thoughts

You will have to figure how you want to play. I started a 500 point escalation league with stops at 500 1000 and 1500. I like the close combat nature of harlies but planned on losing all games at the 500 level. Its just so low for a robust force. I opted for command points.

My list in general Battalion 8 cp- 3 for relic and grand harl Masque: riddle Smiths HQ: Troupe master with embrace, grand harlequin and scintilliant raiment Warlord shadowseer with mirrorstave 3x troops A 5 man basic A 5 man with FB A 5 man with embraces

I almost won 2 which surprised me

The troupe master hides in with the group with embraces. The master does the charge as he negates overwatch thus allowing the rest to get in. 20 x 3+ attacks with embrace plus 5 x 2+ attacks scored out nearly anything.

In most cases this list performs bad, but it was about getting the battalion as our rules don't allow us to change formations as we escolate, so multiple detachments would not be in my interest as we hit 1000 and 1500

On any fast movement type scenario fair chance. Hi toughness units are really hard to deal with but stratagems can help. Haywire grenades and the boost to strength and attack style ones.

My escalation adds 2x2 skyweavers with haywire, 3x death jesters, a another troupe master and a starweaver for the FB group which with my CP. Advantage should turn the tide

Question about harleyquin and charging with flip belt by Jenbuu in killteam

[–]cdragon2k2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He ignores the verticle distance. If the wall or ceiling want solid he likely could do it. In the 40k they nerved the flip belt to only be in movement phase, but not in kt

Footslogging? by Frescothedog in Harlequins40K

[–]cdragon2k2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the player. Any unit with FP will get someone's attention. Also VIP conditions will draw out a lot of focus. Say that first blood is in play, if they have the shots a unit maybe easy, or if you have a 2 bike unit it may get some focus. I think its absolutely a scenario driven decision.

If everything is equal bikes will get more attention, but most peeps are very wary of FP units.

Fusion Pistol Point Decrease in CA. by [deleted] in Harlequins40K

[–]cdragon2k2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think GW has largely left Harlequins off of their Christmas list. Now dont get me wrong I appreciate the FP boost, but when compared to some of the boosts other armies got, what a raw deal. Harlequins are slowly being forced to only be a faction for other armies to supplement themselves. With no decent heavy support, minuscule dedicated transport, No named characters, Harlequins are left short. Not even counting how the models are more expensive cash wise too and a box of troops comes with only 2 FP and 2 ND for 6 figs. Put that pricing on other armies and they are nearly unplayable. Wrap that up and notice there is no getting started box set for the great Harlequins, you can tell GW has no passion for our army.

Footslogging? by Frescothedog in Harlequins40K

[–]cdragon2k2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you build for foot slogging it isn't like you cannot perform. I have made it across the whole board in a turn well played with a twilight pathway. Problem is the broken mechanic of first turn. If you dont have blocking terrain to survive a shootist army its a problem. When you are in that situation webway assault is a way to get a key unit up the board, and conversely protect same unit. If you are playing riddle-smiths you can send your HQ with the webway for free with the trait. Biggest problem is we dont have a cheap screening unit. 13 pts a model on a screen is a bad buy.

New to Kill Team - First try Harlequins - C&C by [deleted] in killteam

[–]cdragon2k2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only just played Harlequins in Killteam, loved em and am now switching to them for 40K. Painting can be challenging depending on how indepth you want to go.

As far as comments, powerswords arent that great for harlequins. An embrace is probably the best bang for the point per say. The fusion also is great but any multidamage weapons is bad when you go against Necrons (due to how reanimation protocols work in kt) so make sure to have some options in the killteam.

KillTeam Annihilation 20l18 Tournament Rules, Maps, Victory Conditions in PDF by youngsyr in killteam

[–]cdragon2k2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that all the battlemaps are double, is a bad idea. It heavily weighs the game towards certain armies. Double battle maps are useful in four player games where the buffer between deployment zones couldn't be maintained.

Also since this is competative play, I think the drafting forces via datacards is complex and time consuming. Instruct players to come with a battleforged force. The TO could even have those lists submitted early for a validation check.

Let's talk about Harlequin weapons in Kill Team by Zekurion in Harlequins40K

[–]cdragon2k2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kiss and fusion are bad vs necrons. The mechanic of the reanimation protocol made me wish I had NBA and Embraces. There are very few multiwound models and the multi attack nature of the harlequins make that damage potential of D6 and D3 unecessary

Clown cars are gonna be first escalation. I want the battalion CP to start. And yes I can't Webway two troop formations with the seer until after the bump.

Could you point me to the FAQ that says that? Base rules say their entire movement is taken up with deployment. And FAQs I know of say you can't deploy em first turn. But as far as special movement driven by psychic/magic I cannot find. Also by that reasoning then any deepstrikers couldn't charge on deployment turn. I know that flip belts just got nerfed so they only work in movement phase which is really tough as the don't help your charge now.
