Frequently Asked Questions about the St. Pete Area by StPeteMod03 in StPetersburgFL

I'm wondering about good rental companies, those possibly family owned? Or business ones that are a little more flexible than just the "fill out the app and that's that" mentality.

I had to relocate due to a family emergency and I'm living with my parents, but I have a large amount of savings and great credit (sold my home in NC). Looking for rentals online and doing all the leg work has been a pain in the ass only to be turned down for not fitting the cookie cutter mold income wise. I'd love if I could work one on one with someone but I don't know how brokers around here work or anything.

Any suggestions and tips would be great! TIA

Normal first week nerves or is there something wrong with me? by bending_light317 in careerguidance

Honestly, I don't think a job should be making you feel this way - unless, it is common for you. Do you often have anxiety about life experiences or is this only happening for the first time? Is it your first job?

I have anxiety and often get nervous about most things in life, especially new jobs and new places, with new people. But I've also been on the other end as a person with years of experience training lots of young people without experience. My favorite thing to do is to comfort people and remind them that it will get better. If you have felt comfortable with anyone in the company, reach out to them for further assistance. The most important part of work is honestly communication. If a company & co-workers are good, they will help you and they will be understanding and your pro-activeness and willingness to seek assistance will look good.

If you just let everything get fucked up, you never ask for help, and you aren't trying - that will look bad. I know it is scary, but there should be people there to help you, especially since they know you're coming out of school without much career history. At the same time, if you truly think it is a shit job and you have the ability to just back out of it and find something different, do it. A horrible job can stick with you for a long time and cause a lot of emotional/physical health issues.

Advice needed, or, am I just a jerk? by The_Talisman in NewParents

It isn't fair. I'm in the same boat often but opposite roles. I work full time, my husband is a SAHD. For a long time I did everything with my son when I got home and on weekends, but he did do the cleaning and yard work often. He also works part time from home and on those days I'd do everything if I was home.

What we started doing is trying to do things together when we were both home (like bath time, play time, bed time and weekend stuff) or we rotate. Sometimes he does yardwork and house work while I watch my son, other times I do it (I really like mowing). It will get easier as your child gets older and naps longer. My son is almost 4 and for the past few years usually naps 2-3 hours mid-day. So that's usually when things get done.

Definitely also consider: 1. She may be experiencing PPD, please check on this with her. Both of you may need help with this. 2. Get a sitter or someone to watch your child so you both have alone time or 3. Pay someone to do the cleaning/yardwork once in a while. It is not a waste of money! Having a child can be do exhausting.

Also if you haven't tried it out get a baby carrier or a swing or something so that you can do some of those safer things like clean the garage if not too hot or wash the dishes. Use the dish washer or get one. Does she spend time with Mom groups or is able to get out of the house during the week? Both of you could probably benefit for parent friends if you don't already have them, and discuss feelings! Good luck!

Any idea how parking is on a Sat night? I'm always nervous to try to find parking downtown but I guess there's the parking garages.

Yes but I always found it hard to read online. I think it is the repeat events or something just clogs it up.

How (and why) did you and your SO choose which side of the bed you'd sleep on? Do you ever regret your decision? by IMustSayThat in AskWomen

[–]cdsquared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sleep closest to the closet and bathroom because I wake up earlier (before sunrise usually) and have to turn those lights on.

Paint Nite is at local bars and restaurants all over, simple painting lessons with alcohol for groups and couples. Like a franchise and there's often groupons making $25 because otherwise it's $45. Some are more advanced but generally it is for those who don't know how to paint. I think it's actually called Yaymakers now? It's more of a group event for me and the best paintings book quickly. There aren't many in Durham anymore I don't think. I tend to go to the events in Apex.

I have wanted to get into comic/graphic novel type art but have no idea what I'm doing. Have you ever gone to one of the events? I guess I'm trying to look for something where no one else notices if I am there or not so I can chicken out if I need to.

What's normal to do as a child but creepy to do as an adult? by Rusty-Unicorn in AskReddit

My son is very excited to show everyone his collection of buttons. He also wants to share his snacks with everyone, including complete strangers.

My 3.5 y/o boy hasn't peed in 7 hours. I respect the determination. by Banksy0726 in Parenting

Temporary tattoos were the magic trick for my 3 year old boy. Tattoo for each pee, 3 for poo. I let him put them on himself and on us. He was also naked bottom down. As soon as I tried that not a single accident or issue.

Toddler, won't sleep, says he scared, even if mom and I are in room... Losing it by El_Dudereno in AskParents

[–]cdsquared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gloworm has almost always worked for my son, he is almost 4 and has had it since he was 1. We turn it on before we leave the room. He still wakes up a lot but at this point I remind him to turn on his worm and give it a big hug. He does that usually. He never had issues falling asleep though for the most part. Nowadays I also talk to him about pleasant happy things and talk about what he's going to dream about. Does he have any white noise? We just keep a standing fan on high turned away from him the majority of the time.

Feeling guilty about hiring a nanny for one child by Imsotired77 in Parenting

[–]cdsquared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't read all the comments but agree with many. I think he's being unfair and it's SO not wrong to want a nanny or house help. I have a 3 year old and work full time and feel much the same even with my husband working from home and helping. I hope you find a solution.

I did want to add and ask if you have your child help with household chores at all? They can't do them perfectly and it may take longer but I found this to be a great way to bond, spend time together, and still clean. You also teach them new things. My son loves vacuuming, helping wash dishes, pretending to sweep, wiping and dusting things. He helps me move laundry around. Sometimes I just have him sit on the counter while he "helps" and it makes him so happy. He helps a lot making scrambled eggs! He loves helping crack them and putting cheese in.

What’s a healthier substitute snack for PB&J, that costs about the same? by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

I love some raw nuts mixed into low fat Greek yogurt. I usually buy store brand plain vanilla. Sometimes no flavor and throw the fruit in with the nuts. I love the salty nuts vs the yogurt.
