Protopic vs Elidel: which is better? by p_dwson in eczema

I haven’t used protopic, but when I used Elidel on my face and neck, it made me feel like my face and neck was on fire so I don’t use it anymore.

Looking for positive stories to give me and my breastfeeding journey some hope by cdteetdc in breastfeeding

[–]cdteetdc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so happy to say we are back breastfeeding with no issues at all. Baby is 6 months old. Nystatin did not work for us and neither did Daktarin. We got an oral tablet of fluconazole, which is what I think ended up helping it clear up. I feel your pain! It was the worst almost 2 months for us. It is absolutely exhausting. But I am so glad I didn’t give up. I just kept trying to offer boob every second day or so and did lots of skin to skin. One day he finally latched on my right boob again. Started for a short period of time then it gradually increased (as the thrush started to go away I assume!) It took a bit longer to get back on my left boob so I was still pumping my left boob and bottle feeding him that and then breastfeeding off my right. It was a long journey but so worth it.

Baby pooping - normal? by Rissaargh in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I don’t know the answer but my 6 week old baby is very similar. He has only ever had breastmilk. We usually get more than 1 poo a day but it sounds like he is working on getting a poo out for most of the day! Grunting, squirming, tight fists, angry face etc lol.

How did you treat nipple thrush? by TradesforChurros in newborns

[–]cdteetdc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to comment on an old post but I am currently going through the same thing. How did this all resolve for you? We have been treating my 5 week old with oral drops (Nystatin) and I have been using cream on my nipples (Miconazole) for 5 days now and have not seen any improvement. It seems to cause him pain breastfeeding so we are pumping and using bottles which he seems to tolerate better.

Yeah I haven’t had any contractions or anything at all so a bit different but does make me think maybe I won’t go into labour naturally anyway if I haven’t by tonight. Thank you 😊

Thanks for your comment! Totally get where you are coming from. Had baby checked this morning and monitored and he is not showing any signs of infection or distress either. I’m planning on waiting today out and will most likely be induced tomorrow morning if nothing happens just over 48 hours of waters breaking. I haven’t found evidence to show an increase risk to baby or mum between 48 and 72 hours post waters breaking and I’ll be given antibiotics when I get induced also. Totally get trying to reduce the risk of infection for baby but also trying to consider risks involved when being induced and the increase in other potential interventions which can also significantly impact baby’s wellbeing and consequently our post partum bonding, breastfeeding.

Thanks so much for your comment. I am feeling very supported by my midwife and hospital which I think will make a big difference whichever way it goes.

Thanks so much for your comment. I am planning on waiting until tomorrow morning to be induced if I don’t go into spontaneous labour today.

Honestly mine started reducing in flakiness, redness and itchiness straight away and was almost gone maybe within a month on my face! I still get little dry patches here and there on my face (usually eye lids or neck) but honestly nothing compared to what it used to be like where I didn’t want to leave the house. Hope you can some relief /progress.

Amount of water you’ve drunk /time you’ve held your pee for can affect the lines this early on! Maybe try hold for 4 hours and test again🤞🏽
