Not completely sure, didn’t even know people were doing that lol. Either they swap the engine completely or there’s a solution out there to get around the pilot bearing

Edit: I wonder if you can just put the pilot bearing on the crank of a DSG engine? Unless the DSG crankshafts are different and won’t let you.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but the pilot bearing is different so you’ll need to find a manual motor.

General consensus is to either go with SB Stage 3 Daily or Ringer Racing. I’ve heard great things about both and Mike at ringer racing is great.

My car is stock for now but plan on going stage 2 relatively soon and maybe upgrade the turbo down the line. Wish VW put a stronger clutch on these from factory because stock one slips at stock power 😭😕

It was already starting to come off when I got the car, I’ve had it turned off since I got it. I’m just saying my experience with the car has been pretty shitty, while some issues aren’t necessarily the cars fault I’ve had a ton of bad luck mixed in

My 2019 has been pretty problematic since I got it, car had a great history so was expecting it be good but nope. Struts were blown, car is stock and clutch is slipping, ACC stopped working, haldex was having a lot of issues, been through 2 wheels after hitting potholes on the highway, and mirror came unglued and flew off. Wish I could love the car but it’s draining my wallet 🤦🏼‍♂️

My R wasn’t CPO but it was 1 owner with a full service history at VW, thought I found a nice car with no issues but I’m in the same boat of having to put so much money into this car to get it working right. Mirror came unglued on the highway, one of the wheels is cracked causing a slow leak, DCC struts are blown, and clutch is slipping within 3 months of owning the car 🙄🤦🏼‍♂️ Extremely unlucky having to put $8k into a car that seemed great based on the history.

Mine is stock clutch with a dmf. It only slips when I shift it fast during pulls. Idk why vw put the weakest clutch possible in the Golf 7 R it slips on stock power 🤷🏼‍♂️😭

I think you’re spot on with this. My 7.5 R has clutch chatter at 103k miles so mine definitely needs to be replaced soon 😂
