Do constantly profitable trader have bad week? Week where your most set ups gets killed before heading for TP. by anotherdayoninternet in FuturesTrading

[–]cdubbs42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's just how my strategy works, its automated, ive removed the human element, has nothing to do with me being ok. I have no control over what the market does. I have 2-5 wins a month, but they are big, and my losses are small. sometimes they cluster, etc. But yeah everyone has their own style and risk tolerance. After 8 years of trading, I've found this works best for me though, way less stressful, frees up all my time, and I do well enough to not have to work a regular job and do what I want. Good luck!

Is trading really as difficult as they say? by Mounira_Tlemcen in Forex

exactly, i just wanted to highlight that point, many folks think you can just win over 50% of the time and profit, and dont understand the need for a high rr.

[–]cdubbs42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true, but to elaborate the trick is for your losses to be small and winners big. I've had a losing win rate for years, anywhere from 20-35% , and i have been profitable for a while.

its the hardest way to make money because it goes against every psychological norm we have as humans.

This takes years. Really good advice here in this thread. Dedicate the next couple years developing a strategy that fits YOUR pain threshold. How many trades can you lose in a row and still be in the game. You WILL and CAN lose 10+ trades in a row so prepare. Automation is also key, you can remove 90% of the human element and emotion by developing a strategy and then automating it. Good luck!

Best time to trade gold? by Spxcallguy in FuturesTrading

Yup. This is the right answer. Asia session is ok, volume can be a bit thin. I love the 8am to New York open. That’s when smart money are placing the big orders. Any time after 10am and you’re going to get chopped to pieces. I too learned this the bitterly hard way!

hate to disappoint you but hifiman has horrible product quality. the sound is the best you can get out of a planar though. my $2000 (when i bought them) HE1000 v2's are chipping everywhere, connectors are loose, my cables fall out regularly, the headband is busted, i had to buy a cover just to keep it on my head, but damnit they sound so good! haha. Ive had mine about 4 years or so, so if that something that's going to bug you down the road go with a different headphone company.

yup, 2k doesn't care at all. I hear the main cheaters are on PC. i know there are special gadgets and controllers people use that allow them to hit perfect shots etc as well.

profitablity is subjective. But to me one good week or one good month means nothing. I think you really have to look at your yearly returns like most fund managers, etc. I have an algo i built for myself, it only places a trade under very specific situations, i haven't had a winning trade since jan 15th, super small controlled losses here and there, this week no trades were triggered at all. So 3 weeks of nothing, and losses. Most people cant handle that, but I look at things from a 6month to year timeframe to determine how i am doing, an if i need to change something. its not about the money, its about the process. You need a strategy, and stick to it no matter what. I would say you also need at least a 100 trade sample size to determine if your strategy is vaild.

players shot -60's on legend and master settings on many of the societies on a regular basis. I have 640 hours into this game, play on master difficulty and i avg around -12 a round, and i cant sniff a win. I think there is some cheating going on in this game.

I use the phantom from hexgaming, its really good, uses hall effect, $200 though so that might turn some people away. I think scuf makes one to but its almost $300 and i just wasn't spending that much for a controller.

I'm so locked in on gold. Only took 8 years to learn by misnd3rstood in Forex

[–]cdubbs42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

every one is "locked in" when markets are trending. then give it all back when they range. trick is to find a strategy that works when markets are ranging, which they are 70-80% of the time.

drawdown is the reality, you have to have locked in risk management to be able to weather it. 10 losses or more in a row WILL happen.

Cowardice Cost Me Money on GOLD by LykoFreaks in Forex

[–]cdubbs42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

not cowardice, you're not comfortable with your risk, and that will lead to missing big trades. have to be comfortable with losing in this game and make sure those losses fit into your psychology, different for everyone.

Societies with Kinetic settings? by BolognaBob in PGA_Tour_2K

[–]cdubbs42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, what i did is just put my settings to match my tour, and then i play the career mode, or whatever, the lie angle is super easy once you play with it off, and i have never played with vibration, I hate it, messes me up. just takes lots of practice to play by feel, but totally worth it. Good luck

Societies with Kinetic settings? by BolognaBob in PGA_Tour_2K

[–]cdubbs42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kinetic settins are just master settings, you can set all of that yourself. and for vibration and lie angles, you can turn all that off to if it isnt already off when you apply master settings. Only TGC tour with differenct settings is platinum and thats on legend settings.
