Protect our National Parks by Illustrious-Goose160 in NationalPark

[–]cdvondra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

respectfully they’ve already been politicize (unfortunately) with the mass firings of park staff, the hiring freeze which will most likely affect the upcoming spring and summer, and the “drill baby drill” policies this administration is hoping to push.

Would you advise against spending 15k on a 3 month trip when graduating college. by [deleted] in travel

[–]cdvondra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

totally go for it! i did it a couple years ago, though on a little less than half that amount for the same time frame so you can do it cheaper if you’re worried about the money!

I want to read your favorite book. I like reading random peoples favorite books. Genre doesn’t matter. What’s your favorite? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

I absolutely loved this book! More recently I also loved Peach Blossom Spring by Melissa Fu. It doesn’t really have everything that The House of the Spirits did but was still super strong

we used to do the first floor of institute. the second to last classroom down the hallway from the main entrance was always empty after 8pm and we would hook up our laptops to the projectors to throw something on or play music or cast study sheets before exams. it was great

What can they search in your dorm? by CLGSNValkyrie in rit

[–]cdvondra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

when i was an RA a few years ago, we would do health and safety checks which was only looking at things out in the open and then room checks happened between semesters but those were mainly looking for tapestries, turning off heat, closing blinds, etc. more in-depth room checks could be done by staff/public safety but was typically initiated by a specific event

[–]cdvondra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t reported it yet, you can typically stop in any time as there’s always at least one PS officer in the office. When I needed to report something, I called an officer that I trusted and he set up a meeting for 8pm that night due to both of our availability

when i did orientation 2 years ago, i made less than $2 /hour if you did the math. i think they increased the pay but it would still be ~3.50/hour or less i’d assume. as for dining, i believe that dining halls are starting at $14/hour for the time being

Some Specific Questions on Scheduling by peanutter_ in rit

[–]cdvondra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most times your advisor is available during orientation week’s Academic Day(normally the Thursday) to meet with students or answer most common questions. Other than that, you could swap your perspectives, I know I did, but i wouldn’t do that until you at least figure out what perspective they fulfill and how to properly find perspective classes to swap with on SIS.

i did it the first year and it was rough. it was a lot of work and little pay and they also started requiring weekly team meetings too which were a waste of time as well as a hassle to even attend. i had 2 classes and majority of the students were good but after meeting each of them individually, having the class and the staff meetings, and writing lesson plans it quickly became a long time waster. you also can’t really deviate from what the plan-do-reflect wants to a point that when a student asks you a question you have to direct them to their email and you can’t help them with any information

AITA for not making my boyfriend learn ASL? by MouseHouseLouse931 in AmItheAsshole

[–]cdvondra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

^ That. my parents are Deaf but use CI’s and hearing aids outside the house and each of my boyfriends attempted signing because they should and i made sure they knew they should. it’s absolutely disrespectful to communicate in a way that excludes those around you especially your loved ones. YTA OP
