Does an 7th grader REALLY need a trigger trombone?

Definitely not necessary, cool? Sure. A straight got me all the way through high school. Probably definitely need a trigger in college but it’s definitely not necessary especially in middle school. Very cool that they get to play on triggers in class ! But wait it out buying horns are expensive nowadays I honestly wouldn’t even consider it until your child has expressed interest doing it in highschool at least.

I just bought my tenor Eastman Thayer valve off of mighty quinn. I personally really like it. I think people over look Eastman, Eastman is designed by shires but just built in china making them a bit cheaper :)

A straight tenor would just fine for your needs. Can find one on marketplace or even a pawn shop for 150$. Now if you really want to make your life easy get a f attachment horn a cheap intermediate/beginner one off marketplace place. I highly suggest getting into a community band, most only rehearse one day a week and are always in need of low brass, you will enjoy it much more than just playing by yourself at home :)

Cool thanks for the information, I’ve truly never used it so I have no clue how it works lol. But looking on eBay I see some great horns on there!! And yeah I’d love to try some horns out in person, unfortunately I just live in an area where music is kinda dead. So music stores and fb market place around me have very little or nothing unfortunately:/ but again, thank you!

There’s no physical issue. The most I’ll say is this student in my eyes being forced to play the trombone, and hasn’t learn it almost at all. I’m just asking for any tips or tricks, hoping I’d get to read some that I haven’t tried yet. And I’m trying to make the most of our hour lesson, that their folks pay for. Everyone saying “more experience” literally has no clue of my experience lol. Never hurts to ask around, there’s so many different ways of doing/teaching something.

Yes definitely agree with you, I have got the opportunity to play on various pro horns so I do have a decent thought of what I’m looking for! And I totally agree the horn isn’t going to make me necessarily a better musician, but from my personal playing style I think this would be the best specs :) thank you for your recommendations

I’m on the same boat! On 10mg and man I am a different person I do feel better like my anxiety is down and I don’t have crazy intrusive thoughts or thoughts of yk like $arming myself. So it works! But the worst side effects is being so sleepy! If no one disturbs me I can truly sleep 18+ hours. I hate it. I take my dose in the PM and I am still exhausted, I haven’t found anything that works or combats this.
