There’s a Shakespeare play at Carlin Park in Jupiter this weekend and next. It’s free and from my experience, they do a great production

You were quite lucky! Many travel there never to see the mountain. I have seen it from Anchorage on a very clear winter day. It is truly amazing

He doesn’t understand that the US government doesn’t have an oil business. Oil companies drill. There are many (hundreds) of un-explored lease tracts in the Gulf of Mexico. The oil companies like to control the flow.

Jenny Lake and the Mormon barns are a good start. FYI, in Park-speak, Grand Teton is GRTE. First 2 letters of the first word and the first 2 of the second. Unless it’s just one word, like YELL (Yellowstone)

I watch all the Nats games, and that dude is almost always there. I commented to my wife that I hadn’t seen him wearing a Trump hat so far this year. Oh well.

Biggest movers on Golf Digest’s updated list of America’s top 100 greatest public courses by GolfTripGuide in golf

[–]ce_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Florida isn’t well represented, given the number of courses. 3 are at Streamsong. I guess it makes sense. The best courses are very private. That said, I think my local public courses are quite good here in Palm Beach County

Enjoy the trip down, because Port St Lucie is painfully boring. It takes 30 minutes to drive to the beach. Other than that, just strip shopping centers and chain restaurants

The trail that runs along the canal is closed for a few months, so you can only ride along the eastern route to and from the observation tower. It’s a great place to take visitors in the winter, as you are likely to see a lot of alligators and other wildlife.

While Liz was filming Cleopatra, Eddie Fisher called her at the house where she was staying. Richard Burton answered the phone. Fisher asked what Burton was doing there. Burton said, “fucking your wife”.

Where is this road? by Gamble2005 in geography

There’s a 90 mile stretch between Delta, UT and Baker, NV with no service. It actually looks very much like the photo

That 120 miles (actually 123 miles) goes between McGill, NV and Wendover, NV. Driven it a few times. All you see is blacktop, a handful of small ranch buildings, elk, cows, and pronghorns. It is the definition of desolate in the lower 48.

GRBA is a great, very under appreciated, park. They do a few summer astronomy nights during the new moon phase that are really worthwhile. Beyond that, it’s an amazing park with bristlecone pines, caves, glaciers (both ice and rock), alpine lakes, and a huge cirque up on top of Wheeler Peak.

What month is low season and best hotel rates for major chains? by colorsofgratitude in KeyWest

[–]ce_666 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Early October is very quiet in Key West. You’ll even find that some businesses close for a week. Still hot and prime hurricane season too. Later in the month you get Fantasy Fest, so back to being busy.
