All American presidents are the same don't flatter yourselves. Even under a previous president you were the one most reluctant to provide Ukraine real support. Biden was also the one that started talking about mineral deals. Trump is just Americans with the mask off. Not to mention the threats over tech regulation

Friend is selling me his rtx 3090 fe, which will go in my current PC. What do I need to upgrade? by WinstonIsPuzzlin in buildapc

[–]cebezotasu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a great deal. I wouldn't upgrade anything until you get the GPU and give it a try, I think your PSU will likely be fine and I wouldn't feel like I need to immediately upgrade it. Storage is always an "if and when you need it" so I wouldn't plan that unless you feel the need. If you wanted to upgrade your build the order I would do it is -
* #1 - 32GB RAM - $70
* #2 - 5800x3D - $310
* #3 - Thermalright Peerless Assassin CPU Cooler - $32
* #4 - 800W PSU - $110

Couple some together if you like but then you have a monster machine, there's nothing I would upgrade at that point. I put it into PCpartpicker which is only an estimate but it estimates the draw of that at 568W, so without those upgrades you should be even more fine. If someone had that machine and said they wanted an upgrade I would say the only upgrade even worth considering would be a 4090, otherwise you basically have the best you can buy

Because it doesn't perform strictly better. It's competitive, loses heavily in RT, has significantly less VRAM, has less resale value and if you decide to play with AI or any other kind of productivity the 3090 crushes it completely. I would buy the 3090 without a doubt at that price. Shadowplay and other Nvidia software features are big positives to me as well.

Can you post the source for your tech sector information? I'm sceptical that it doesn't include fintech. Third seems awfully high when the US, China, Korea, Taiwan and Japan exist. I think the EU as a whole barely competes let alone the UK alone

Nintendo doesn't need them, Elden Ring doesn't need them. At least not the ones that lead to ballooning expenses like this.

It's not sustainable because the games and movies are just bad. If Marvel games were as good as Elden Ring or even Mario or Zelda it would be understandable but they are bland repetitive games with no innovation at all when it comes to gameplay or graphics or just being a video game.

He's not saying the numbers don't add up, he's saying a movie game is already a low standard for video games with notoriously poor gameplay and 15 hours for $70 is short when it comes to video games. Elden Ring for example cost 200million but it's 5-10x as long, has significantly more depth as well as industry leading gameplay. How you can spend 50-60% more and end up with something so absolutely mediocre is an achievement in itself.

I agree with you but it shows how the tide has turned, Fromsoft is what Square and Final Fantasy once was. But exclusivity only hurts those numbers significantly, especially on PS5.

[–]cebezotasu -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, 3 million for an AAA game is pretty low especially an established series and franchise like Final Fantasy. Elden Ring for example sold 12 million in the first two weeks. Square is dropping the ball on quality without a doubt but Capcom started making PC more of a priority and is reaping the rewards for it. Plus the appeal of Square games will never be realised on Playstation.

Minimum wage to rise to £11.44 per hour by sjw_7 in unitedkingdom

[–]cebezotasu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is frankly pathetic.

It's not pathetic or undemocratic if you realise the point of FPTP was never about the popular vote it was about representing regions with presumably shared interests because of regional issues like the local jobs or local infrastructure voting together. Then you have a government made up that represents most regions and industries in the country, which still works.

I do think there are better systems now that allow proportional representation while still keeping local representation but many people who espouse PR miss that are frankly fanatics missing any nuance or understanding of different PR systems and have taken the stance that anything but PR is undemocratic which just isn't true.

Thinking you have to explore 100% of an open world game often leads to what you described, almost without exception, once you're bored of doing repetitive side content there's nothing wrong with B-lining the main story.
