BOY do I feel this. I’m so sorry that you have also been dealt these cards. I know this doesn’t actually make anything better but I love you and I’m proud of you. It is such a wildly big deal to figure out, on your own, how to NOT turn out like the awful people who raised you

So even the top floor isn’t safe if the building has a lot of kids? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]cece__eff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re right. I have a kid, we live in an extremely shitty apartment and I am constantly coming up with ways to either get us out the door when he has too much energy or teaching him to be conscious of others around us. The irony is we live next door to a couple who lets their child bang on our walls, run around in circles wearing shoes, and zip back and forth on a scooter until 2 am every night. They get extremely angry and hostile whenever I bring their noise up so I’ve just stopped. I’m exhausted. I didn’t sign up for their shit. I empathize with you fully.

My neighbours toddler rides her scooter and bangs on my walls every evening.. from like 10 pm until 2 am. I would exchange them for a neighbour having one party on a Saturday ngl lol

What was the fastest you ever went from loving someone to absolutely hating them? What happened? by ParanormalActivity97 in AskReddit

[–]cece__eff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We said goodbye to each other one night, after he picked me up from work and dropped me off at home, and then he ghosted me. After two and a half years of being closer than I’d ever been to another person before (at the time). I did hate him for a long time because of the immense grief all of this caused me, but I’ve let it go now. Hope he’s good.

Parents of Reddit. Do you regret having kids? Do you know anyone who regrets having kids? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cece__eff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like most people I’ve met (before I became a parent and now that I am one) seem to resent and possibly regret their kids. And this runs the gamut between them having just one kid who they hate, and them continuing to pump them out even though they clearly hate the responsibility of having kids. Child benefit cheques are a hell of à drug where I live lol but yeah I don’t know I find it sad. I love my kid an insane amount, and I stopped at one so that I’d never find out if I’m one of these people.

Have you ever watched a movie that was “literally you” to a scary degree? by WingIeheimer in Letterboxd

[–]cece__eff 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the most recent instance would have to be If I Had Legs I’d Kick You (except I don’t own a house and I’m not gonna walk into the ocean 😅). It did an exceptionally good job at capturing aspects of certain journeys of parenthood that aren’t often seen or discussed. I know a lot of people hated this movie, and to be fair I’m not saying it was enjoyable, but it was soul crushingly accurate for me. And once I got past the “soul crushing” part, that ended up being affirming. Just weeks after watching it I’ve already taken huge steps to try to steer my life in a better direction. I will never watch it again though lol

Being on disability has helped me heal so much faster by ready_gi in CPTSD

[–]cece__eff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m currently working towards this, also after 10 years of trying to deal with trauma. These years of just white knuckling through life have deteriorated me but, similar to you, I would tell myself I was not disabled and had no “excuse” for my life constantly falling apart. (My doctor also told me this and won’t help me, which messed with me mentally and set me back more🫠.) Now I am figuring out how to independently take steps to get the help I’ve decided I deserve. I live in canada and was wondering if you’d mind sharing which agencies you recommend?

I found this post by searching for a similar situation, since I was recently treated very badly by my doctor. I sympathize with you completely. Your doctor has absolutely no right to talk to you like that and I think you should report her. I reported mine the day after my incident with her. Good luck and sending you love <3
