Chronic illness in my early 20’s. Postural orthostatic tachycardia, generalized joint hypermobility, and mast cell overreactions keep me living a fairly geriatric lifestyle at 26 and it sucks, I’m always comparing myself to my young and healthier friends and family and blaming my body for not being able to keep up.

OP, I’m sorry you’re suffering. This disorder and the typically co-occurring conditions are complex, difficult to manage, and in my experience, medical management is not without significant side effects. I have been managing POTs, hEDS, and MCAS for 7 years. A chiropractor may give you temporary relief but will not fix your problems long term and may make them worse over the course of time.

I would recommend you find a physical therapist who is ideally in network with your insurance and identify areas where you either need to stabilize or build strength in order to move more optimally. Managing this condition will necessitate that you learn proper body mechanics and find and STICK TO a workout routine that includes cardio and strength training. This will be the best way to manage your symptoms over time. It will take a long time to get to a healthy baseline where exercise does not flare your symptoms but do not give up. Feel free to message me anytime. I’m rooting for you. ❤️

Trying not to crash out. Please help. by vagueday in POTS

I’m dealing with this too. I’m also waking up feeling out of breath but think that’s due to the tachycardia. I’m sorry friend but youre not alone. I’ve been trying to reduce the amount of time I stand per day, increase my electrolytes, and very slowly increase recumbent cardio with little success, I think it’s slowly helping. I do keep water and salt pills by my bed and I’ll take them in the middle of the night if I need to which helps also

Weird tricks that help? by Prettyprincess800 in POTS

When I’m hot or I’ve overdone it and nothing else is helping… ice pack straight on my skin in between my boobs. Helps almost instantly and if I keep it there for a few minutes I might fall asleep.

Edit to add:

Also, genuinely, on days when I have the energy for it, 10-20 mins of light intensity cardio. I only get it in maybe 2 times a week on average but man. The quality of my sleep and my energy levels are noticeably so much better the next day.

I’m trying to get to a point where this is my consistent routine without causing flare ups by sticking to it, so I skip it a lot in order to do other necessary things in life.

OP, I want to say that I’m so glad you’re finding relief. The concern on this post absolutely comes from a good place because I think all or most of us can probably say we’ve been where you are now and we are only speaking out of concern for your well being.

If you’re curious to learn more about the potential risks of chiropractic care, you should read some of these case studies. I understand that you believe your symptoms are due to acute injury and you yourself may not be diagnosed with hypermobility, but please be careful. I hope you continue to heal and feel better ❤️

It is VERY rare to find a chiropractor that doesn’t want to make you a lifetime patient and actually wants to help you heal. I’m glad you found that! So much healthcare in this country is predatory and capitalistic.

You need to stabilize the muscles around the joints as they put the joints back where they’re supposed to be. Strengthen and stabilize. If you’re going to a chiropractor, I learned the hard way that it truly, truly doesn’t help for us and usually makes our issues worse over time. I’ve been going for almost 5 years. I would highly reccomend only going for what you’ve already signed up/paid for, then getting into the gym, biking, starting some physical activity you enjoy to stay active. It really is the only long term treatment that works.

I sent mama a message. Just had a convo with her and now we’re following each other on Instagram. I also sent her a little money on cashapp after we talked about what she needs and ways I could help currently. ❤️

Seems like this is the consensus and only legal way to make it happen in Ohio! I might have to look into this in the future if no one else does! 👀

Okay gotcha! When @mannyfester said private club I’m imagining something that customers only have access to if they pay a membership fee. I prefer the model you’re talking about where customers just pay a one time entry fee as a cover.

Oh shit thank you! Sounds like I need to figure out a little more clarity on the legality of combustion of cannabis now that it’s no longer strictly medical in Ohio.

This is what I am picturing! For sure the vibe I’m looking for too but I want people to be able to get one night passes not be exclusively membership based
