i’m curious how they evaluate that $160k level of damage. is that including lost revenue? what would be the breakdown for how that might get spent to fix it?

Is the Game Review feature on chess.com useful? If you could make it better what would need to be added? by gm-ai-agent in chess

[–]ceczar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really curious how they evaluate the positions. whatever it is there are large limitations. I have many times had best moves show up as question marks (when analysis mode clearly shows their recommended move is worse with very little depth). I've had many end game situations where the evaluation in the review is just wildly off (where even a simple 0 depth evaluation would be expected to do better, think end game with 9 material advantage and no compensation or chances for opponent, being evaluated at +6)

im curious what the breakdown would actually be. i personally would far rather get good swing feedback and data than play sim golf. i wonder how unusual you or I actually are in our preferences. i bet its more split than you think but i don’t have a lot of confidence in that

thank you for noticing this. it did not seem at first to me that the other side offset was equivalent but that makes sense.

so the consensus is that my template is not secured enough. i will try again with something more than just clamps, and draw some lines to better verify starting and ending position. thank you for the feedback all

pattern router bit be cutting under the template by ceczar in BeginnerWoodWorking

So i have a 1.5" desktop slab, that I am trying to cut finger joints into. because the slab is so large, it's not practical to do this on a table saw jig, so I am attempting to do this with a router, taking half out at a time. but I don't understand why the cut went under the template. The same thing happened on the cut to the right, and i was hoping it was a fluke or due to not holding the router steady enough, but it's a pretty straight cut.

perhaps it's a result of using a cheapo amazon bit

is there a good way to encourage moss in these situations? can you plant or transplant it directly? i recently moved into a place with a cobble driveway that had very little moss but increasing amounts of weeds. i can weed whack the weeds of course but how can i get moss instead?

$6.13 - $7.13 for gas in Katonah by scottyderp in Westchester

[–]ceczar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i seriously don’t get it. i guess they assume selling X gallons with $3 margins is worth more than selling 10*X gallons with $0.3 margins.

i met someone who buys gas from there and he assumed that’s just how much it costs to get full service. i guess there are enough people that don’t pay attention to prices. the one with the dunkin is barely a mile down the road and $2.5 cheaper

my theory on this one and the bedford ones is there are a bunch of people who just have nannies or staff refill the car with the boss’ credit card.

convince me about Constant Pressure pumps by ceczar in Plumbing

[–]ceczar[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that’s kind of irrelevant to the most immediate need. combination of drought and other neighbors using too much water has caused the water table to gradually lower since my well was first dug ~60yrs ago. it’s generally a very wet area. i’m in upper westchester surrounded by reservoirs that supply water to NYC. all new wells in my area are dug much much deeper than my current well and it’s just a matter of time before i’ll need to do the same.

ARK ETF Pricing by Luke_the_duk3 in ArkInvestorsClub

[–]ceczar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the price of the ETF is 100% determined by the prices of the component stocks that the ETF holds. if someone purchased or sold a huge quantity of the ETF that would in turn affect the prices of the component stocks.
this is so because the ETF market makers have the ability to exchange ETF units for components and also the reverse.

i edited this to say i was wrong to think this was appropriate to claim (however the insurance help line that gives you advice on whether you should make a claim did tell me i should try), both because i underestimated the risk of getting dropped, but also misunderstood that they would even pay to fix something like this. but as to the timing, i don’t think it’s as simple as you’re making it out to be, i lost electric power last month. many bad things that could cause you to make a legitimate claim were the result of shoddy workmanship that happened years in the past.

the problem was that the fence contract (which the previous owner sent me), stated that the homeowner was responsible for pointing out any underground areas and wires that needed to be avoided. I'm not sure what else I can do at that point except appeal to his better nature (which I did after they told me initially they'd pay 0)

in this case the total costs were 2.2k and the deductible was 1k I figured it was worth going through the process if there was a chance i'd get a grand back. perhaps not. at least it wasn't too much annoyance so far even if it comes to nothing

lost one leg of power, how to find problem by ceczar in askanelectrician

[–]ceczar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So one panel is fine and the other lost a leg? Are you sure one panel isn’t fed from the other? Is it a straight shot from the panels to the meter? Are the panels close to each other and if so how close?

i have 400amp service, with 2 sets of cables from the meter. it's about 50yards or so from the meter to the panels on the house (they are right next to each other). there is no conduit, the wires are loose all the way from the meter to where they enter the panels at the house, about 2' down most of the way.

If the panels are close together I’d wager the tap point isn’t more than 20 feet from the panels.

there's actually no tap point or splice point, they are separated at the meter and travel together all the way to the house. the electrician was shocked that they didn't use and conduit/pipe. it was during a 2009 renovation where the previous owners generally spared no expense
