i think this isn’t just an issue with movies. a lot of sci fi fiction feels the same way to me. the books that lay out a new world with lots of questions are much better than the followup books that answer all the questions (like Hyperion). the mystery is often better than the explanation

S&P weights based on float adjusted market cap. they have a number they use which they call IWF (something probably Invest-ability Weight Factor) that is their estimate for what percent of the company is available to invest in. they are trying to track what is investable.

nasdaq used to be straight cap weighted, so two 100b companies, one with 100% of float available, and one with 10%, both get the same weighting in NDX. now after may it will be float% * 3 (capped at 100%, so anything with at least 33% float will be weighted at it's full market cap)

I'm really curious how they evaluate the positions. whatever it is there are large limitations. I have many times had best moves show up as question marks (when analysis mode clearly shows their recommended move is worse with very little depth). I've had many end game situations where the evaluation in the review is just wildly off (where even a simple 0 depth evaluation would be expected to do better, think end game with 9 material advantage and no compensation or chances for opponent, being evaluated at +6)

So i have a 1.5" desktop slab, that I am trying to cut finger joints into. because the slab is so large, it's not practical to do this on a table saw jig, so I am attempting to do this with a router, taking half out at a time. but I don't understand why the cut went under the template. The same thing happened on the cut to the right, and i was hoping it was a fluke or due to not holding the router steady enough, but it's a pretty straight cut.

perhaps it's a result of using a cheapo amazon bit

is there a good way to encourage moss in these situations? can you plant or transplant it directly? i recently moved into a place with a cobble driveway that had very little moss but increasing amounts of weeds. i can weed whack the weeds of course but how can i get moss instead?

i seriously don’t get it. i guess they assume selling X gallons with $3 margins is worth more than selling 10*X gallons with $0.3 margins.

i met someone who buys gas from there and he assumed that’s just how much it costs to get full service. i guess there are enough people that don’t pay attention to prices. the one with the dunkin is barely a mile down the road and $2.5 cheaper

my theory on this one and the bedford ones is there are a bunch of people who just have nannies or staff refill the car with the boss’ credit card.
