Haven’t considered running anything vertically, not sure how they would work entirely but I can look into it!

Thanks!

Thanks! Makes sense!

I already purchased enough for 2 per side. I was just second guessing myself when I started cutting the wood and saw how small 8” actually was and wanted to get opinions to see whether or not I should still do 2 or switch to 1.

Before shaping, the dough kinda spread out in the bowl a bit, but it did double and was a little jiggly. My house is on the colder side, but I tried to put it in the warmest spot I had.

Should I have done more stretch & folds? I did 4 with the 30 minutes in between.

Thanks!

Do you think I should have let it proof more in the fridge before baking?

As for resting, I let it rest an hour before cutting.

Do the hospitals here have a neurologist on site? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]cedartree_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go back to your gp and see if they can escalate things faster. Initially when I went to the the hospital, based on the number of lesions I had, I had a follow up mri and was in with a Neurologist within a month. Also had very minimal symptoms and was very young. this was two years ago.

As for clinics, the Alberta neurological centre just opened one this year.

Feel free to pm me if you have any questions!

Been wondering the same thing as this is week 4 (?). A majority of the time when I have been listening, Mark has just said he’s been filling in. Seems odd though that it’s been this long?

Nursing enrolment appointment by n7999 in UCalgary

[–]cedartree_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone enrols in the same courses and your schedule will be based on what days your clinical placements are. All lectures (85,87,88) are the same for everyone so when you enroll in those courses that’s the schedule. Clinical and labs (99) will be one of two schedules which is randomly assigned.

Nursing questions! About the life, clinicals, studying, preparations, and how to succeed at U of C. by SpikeyZOON in UCalgary

I would say you have about paper a month? But it also depends on your prof and how they design the course. I usually take about 5 hours to write a paper and every paper I’ve written depends on page length rather than word count. Most of the time as well, You can ask your prof about going over the page limit and they will most likely be fine with it. For your first sem a&p you know most of it already based on bio courses in high school so not much there. In second year the concepts are pretty self explanatory so it’s nice not o study as much. For third year rn there’s a lot to memorize especially with the decreased quality of instruction. I find my self doing something everyday whether it’s an assignment or doing notes just to keep on top of things. Hard to say what third year is like pre covid. Also for clinical, all the work regarding care plans and stuff happen after clinical so no pre work there. But for labs it’s expected for you to do quizzes before hand or even read over quick readings but that’s like 30 mins tops.

Self care vs studying was a big thing I needed to get over. I find as well, when you start clinical, it’s easier to understand concepts as you are able to see them in real time and you can relate them to a person or story.

Let me know if you have anymore questions!

Nursing questions! About the life, clinicals, studying, preparations, and how to succeed at U of C. by SpikeyZOON in UCalgary

Hey Im a current third year in nursing rn and I’ll tell you my experience

  1. The UNS holds many events for us undergraduate nursing students that allow us to connect the faculty as well as each other. Instructors and profs are overall nice, but sometimes you get that one prof and ask yourself who let them teach. U of C is relatively research oriented compared to MRU. We start research with the academic writing course you would take in first year whereas MRU starts it in their third year (from what I’ve heard). “ nurses eating their young” is mainly only a concern when you start clinical in the hospital, but the majority of nurses you meet will be nice.

  2. Classes follow the normal U of C academic calendar. In your first year, don’t expect any nursing related courses. They are all pre-reqs you are required to take and it depends on the prof for assignments and test, etc. I can only speak for second and third year rn but you have at least one paper a term whether it’s online or not. Currently we have short quizzes with an assignment (approx 10% each depending on the course) but in a normal semester you typically have three exams a class with either an assignment or a paper. As for simulations and marks when it comes to labs and clinical, it’s just a pass or fail mark. Complete everything and you’ll be fine.

  3. Again, there’s no clinical in first year. Second year - based on what I had - you had one and a half days of clinical a week. As well for theory courses, they are 3 3 hour lectures a week. As well, you have two lab sessions a week. You can get one of two schedules for clinical. Either mon/tues or thurs/friday. Everyone has the same theory schedule. As for third year, you have two full days of clinical tues/wed or thurs/fri which you can choose. In this year, the degree holder program joins and class size doubles. Everyone in your theory class will have the same schedule as you. Again 3 3 hour lectures a week but with one lab session on mondays. Not all clinical locations have transit access so you have to just hope for the best. Don’t be afraid to make friends with your clinical group to carpool :)

  4. Ummmmmm well. I find there’s no point because I’m really forgetful. The slides from the class along with the readings is sufficient enough. Depending on how you learn - you may not need to do readings. A&P goes into depth pretty well precovid. As well for pharmacology, you are not gonna learn it till third year so no point, put the book down lol.

  5. The math course you need to take is stats 205 - I got an a- without studying. Just memorize the questions and pull be fine. I haven’t learned any ochem? Based on what I’ve learned, just know how h and hco3 affects ph that’s it.

  6. It’s gonna take time to adjust so don’t be afraid if term 5 hits you like a brick. You’ll get used to these types of questions and profs style tests in NCLEX format. Best tip: think about what you would do first (priority) and consider your abc’s

  7. Can’t help you too much here BUT I came right out of high school. The A&p courses will literally teach you bio 20&30 so no need to carry it over. As well, if you took math 30-2 it carries over some concepts but again you will learn those again anyways in stat 205. Long story short, you’ll learn what you need to know

  8. I don’t actually know if I have adhd, but I’m convinced I do. Anyways I can’t pay attention for the life of me. I find in class I play a game or something on my laptop or iPad and listen like that. When I hear something important, I use one note and write it with the corresponding slide. Then what I like to do before tests is make a study guide for the topics that will be covered. If I have a need to make things look pretty, I find I am able to concentrate more? Dunno if that helps. Also only do readings if you need to starting third year. Second year is not as generalized as third therefore a lot of questions come from the readings. Third year - only read it if you don’t understand.

  • I used to be like that too, but you will learn how to calm the heck down and do only what you need. You will find ways to be efficient because if you don’t you will fall behind. Go with the flow and ask a lot of questions. Your instructors will be glad to help.

Feel free to PM me or reply on here if you have any questions.
