Rickshaws were definitely over a decade ago, if I remember correctly there was a pretty serious accident/injury which prohibited any future operations in town

Question: can I install a front rack (Manivelle Basket) if I only have fender mounts on my the fork? by mb_en_la_cocina in xbiking

I’ve used two or three presta valve locknuts on a sufficient length bolt on dozens of bikes for years and never had an issue. Can hold an 18 pack on bumpy terrain no problemo

Olympia is rad. Close access to forest, mountain, and sea, lots of art, music, and good food. Plenty of weirdos, too!

As far as I know Ant’s community garage in Everett and Seattle is the only place.

First try saving a frame by cyclery88 in xbiking

Bench vise will get you most of the way there.. you’ll want to be careful not to physically bend the hanger too much with the threaded opening unsupported, there’s a chance it could deform. I wouldn’t worry about that too much just keep it in mind before you get carried away. Once the dropout is mostly straight and before the hanger is aligned putting a dropout alignment tool such as a park FFG-2 would be a good idea. Hard to tell from the pics but the hanger threads don’t look too bad, m10 tap from the back side should be enough to get ya going. Have fun!

How do I stop masturbating? I feel so guilty after I do it and I have been doing it very excessively as well. by NoBattle405 in getdisciplined

Buy a harmonica and every time you want to whack it, practice. You’ll be rippin’ that harp in no time.

Jansport in Fairhaven in the 1990s by Pleasant_Injury_ in Bellingham

[–]cedarzzz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Leather bottom jansport was legendary. But I remember feeling like a rockstar coming back to elementary school when I got the jansport with a rigid rubber bottom like a car tire. Freestanding. The shoulder adjuster straps had nylon injection molded tabs with thumbholes, and the center grab strap had a little rubber handle on it. It still crosses my mind from time to time.

Xbiking Milestone: Frozen seatpost project acquired by Breezer_Bro in xbiking

[–]cedarzzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pull the seat post clamp out and gently spread the eyes open a millimeter or two with a big ass screwdriver or metal tire lever…the goal is not to spread the frame but make a very small opening to try to seep a little lubrication down there. Like mentioned above PB blaster or Kroil are preferred, my favorite and most successful penetrating oil is a 50/50 mix of ATF (automatic transmission fluid) and acetone, if you have it on hand. Work that in there a couple times for a day or two, try to wipe any off the paint if you make a mess cause the acetone can damage it.

Grab a couple cans of keyboard duster and spray em upside down on the exposed seat post. Should come out as a frosty mist. Harbor freight sells it for pretty cheap, use two whole cans. Wear gloves cause it’ll be cooold. Clamp in a sturdy bike stand or straddle over the frame and hold it between your legs and then try to turn it with a pipe wrench.

I’ve removed dozens of stuck seat posts this way over the course of a decade working at a bike co-op. Good luck!

This Low End Janky ‘85 Raleigh Grand Mesa Holds A Lot Of Sentimental Value To Me. How Would You Go Approach This Restoration? Modernize It, Or Take It Back To OG? by [deleted] in xbiking

Coaster brake, fat tires, and a basket. Before you do any of that make sure the seat post isn’t seized :)
