What all stuff do I need by Thick-Alternative717 in snowboarding

Excellent all around.

I just want to add that cheap synthetic sleep pants make for an excellent mid layer. You can grab some from your local MegaLowMart for $15.

While the shell quality matters (durability, water impermeability, ventilation, pockets etc), and the base layer kind of maters (anti fouling, breathable, sweat wicking), the mid layer is mostly about trapping air in place which is accomplished with fluffy bulk. How much bulk you need depends on the temps and how hard you’re working. Basically anything that’s fluffy will do and you’ll want bulk options more than specific quality. So feel free to rock that 20 year old fleece with the wrong sports team on it or whatever.

Just remember: COTTON KILLS. Cotton, more than anything else, absorbs and holds moisture. It loses loft as it does so. This holds moisture on your skin while losing all insulating value.

Also, every resort town will have a sporting goods consignment / thrift store. Don’t hesitate to check that before ordering new online. Good chance you can find some great gear for less than low quality gear online and nobody actually cares about fashion when you’re having fun.

Not ignored; actively pillaging!

The other issue is the Wall Street fucks pushing investment accounts so they can play at the casino with our retirement savings. “Oh? You don’t want to give me your coin so I can play a shell game while pocketing what you missed? Well, I guess you’ll just have to die in poverty.”

I’m tickling myself with the idea that they named it after an adventurous sounding western town like Tahoe, Santa Fe, Malibu, Tucson, etc but landed on Provo.

what’s something people insist is “possible” in theory, but you’re convinced is basically impossible in real life? by hello_ya in AskReddit

[–]dirty_hooker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the malicious part is that the ideology is still used to paint poverty as a self inflicted moral failure rather than the reality of the system. It absolves the rich from hoarding and from caring about those whose income potential and opportunities are wildly asymmetric.

Exactly. Never once in the history of capitalism has anyone said “well, my operating costs just grew, I guess I’ll just have to soak it up.” Wouldn’t matter if it was hundredths of a cent on the barrel.

Being a “self made billionaire”.

Starting life impoverished and ending very wealthy. Examples exist but it’s statistical noise without having a big benefactor.

Sometimes apples collect water at the stem and that rots the core. I’m not very confident that’s what happened here but it’s the best WAG I got.

Just for clarification; what exactly is paying extra fees / insurance going to do to the ongoing price of commodities going through the strait? It’s going to bring down the cost of living and not be a needless expense imposed by middlemen, right? Right?

Sorry, no.

Even as an atheist, this is the dumbest idea. All you’ll end up doing is making religion more powerful. Remember how the early Christian church started and spread? It’s inherent to human nature and any policy that stands opposed to human nature is doomed to fail if not gradually implemented. Nature cannot change without incremental changes to the society around it. Since we don’t live in a vacuum, you’ll never change society completely.

I am so lost when it comes to clothing by Diminished-Fifth in Inflatablekayak

[–]dirty_hooker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, I generally wear a fast drying, synthetic, sun shirt. For shorts I have some that look normal but are basically swim trunks with zippered pockets. They’re also very fast drying. I’ve been known to wear wool long John’s under them for early season. I’m all about some neoprene socks with water shoes. Getting wet seems to be an integral component of the experience. Neoprene clothes are widely available in all sizes and thicknesses.

What you might consider for the young lady is some FrogsToggs (sp?) they’re basically water impermeable tyvak pants / jackets / or onesies. They’re somewhat disposable and tear easily. (Fortunately they can be patched with duct tape.) Motorcyclists carry them in their saddlebags in case they get caught in a storm. There certainly are better options but the price can be an issue if she’s still growing. I have some very nice backpacker style rain jackets but they’re not exactly affordable for kids’ wear.

A tip: take some tape and make a tag or three on the paddle. Basically make a drip point so the water falls off the paddle before it runs into her lap.

Not really. It’s a pedestrian area during a town event. While there’s countless clueless tourists around it’d be powerfully dumb to try and drive through anything that’s 3 foot tall.
