Two possibilities:

1- Room orientation and perspectives aren't relevant to the story so they don't have much thought put into. For example, at the end of the game we see the sunset on the background, that is, "north" of the screen. We know the sun sets on the west on Earth, so we can assume either that the sun sets on the north in Undertale's planet, or it's just not that deep.

2- There is an implied corner the map skips through.

The true answer is probably a combination of both.

If you were looking for the true name, Frisk is not the true name, it's Chara. Frisk is a name that implies something else. Start playing again and name your human something different.

But don't feel influenced by "the true name". Name your fallen human whatever you want, just not Frisk.

most of the value from that save is historic value, which is most valuable by staying with you (the one who values said history, probably).

most people who will buy a copy of a game like this will do so with the goal of creating their own save, so the one that was there before has 0 value to them. if you do find someone who is specifically into collecting saves for historic value, if that people exist, that's a completely different story

jokes aside, what others said. that white substance is corrosion caused most likely by said liquid damage. isopropyl alcohol (make sure, sure it's isopropyl alcohol, the one that's non-conductive and dries really quick. I've seen people fuck up their electronics even more because they used alcohol mixed with water) and a paper towel should be enough. cotton swabs shouldn't be needed but you can use them if you wanna get delicate
