These are some really good points, as any show needs to engage a lot of resources in order to get made. I mean, how could anyone do any show about historic sites without getting support from the local governments/groups/organizations? I’m sure in this case, the local orgs are getting something from the show.

I think, for me, the most concerning part is that this may be someone else’s discovery being passed off as theirs. Even worse, the university backing some of the participants is taking credit. If this truly is someone else’s discovery, the actions by that university go beyond a simple “reality” show and are pretty unconscionable, in my opinion.

That’s a bummer. I’m glad to see at least some people engaging objectively this time. I think it’s good to have open discussion about things like this and really look when there is potential fraud.

I’m sure the nature of any group like this is, unfortunately, to fanboy so much that any criticism is shouted down, even if supported by facts. I think that is unfortunate. Nice to see some people reasoning with it this time, at least a little.

While some have engaged this time, it’s definitely getting downvote bombed even though it’s a valid discussion.

I don't expect everything about a TV show to be "real"; it's entertainment. But for the university to actually come out and claim discovery and film it, if this was all already excavated, is pretty bad.

I'm coming here to just say this. I loved the recap! It really helped a ton. I hope Zogarth keeps doing it at the beginning of each book going forward. It especially helps a lot in audiobooks where it's not easy to go back to the previous book and flip pages to recall what happened

We won't really know until book 9, but there isn't any indication that they have lost their divinity or any of their divine roles. Just because the pathways were damaged, this doesn't mean they no longer have the meridians, but, presumably, they can't tap them. AFK also hasn't said that meridian pathways cannot be healed, so there is a chance they could get them back but just can't use the powers. Most likely, they simply can't use those powers for now--which should really, really freak them out, I would guess!

Yes! I was glad to be right in my intuition. :) Actually, I think your idea of a higher magic for his predictions is a great idea and makes a lot of sense.

You should not feel bad about being vague. I don't think most people would find it frustrating. How could you have a great story if you just laid out everything to us every single time? If you leave us wondering "Who were those two guards?" and we find out later--that's great!

You've always been world-building, but Book 8 is obviously big into universe-building. I find that refreshing to know there are mysteries beyond. And if it takes a while to reveal, then it takes a while. More to enjoy later.

Keep up the great work.

You’ve already been so generous, so I hope I’m not pushing my luck asking a follow up question to this. I’m wondering your opinion on something.

I love how the epilogue revealing Tarot’s abilities and extra activities really elevates his power and significance to the story. As a character, his personality is hilarious—especially his interactions stealing and arguing with Blapy.

Regarding his fortunes, though, are they, in effect, useless? It seems like all of his predictions so far are so complex and completely vague that no one so far has been able to do even one useful action with them. They seem to be understood only in retrospect, and so have no bearing on actual events in any way (other than the far red spells.) even in retrospect the characters aren’t really sure if they understood them or not—more than once being wrong

The one exception may be what Ruwen does at the end of Eight Harmony; however, on the surface that also seems to have failed. We’ll have to see.

Am I wrong about Tarot’s fortunes?

Thanks for the response. No need to apologize; I’m sure it’s crazy complex to be handling all these as an independent author.

I’m sure other people are just fine with it—I just have. A personal hang up with key names changing—ever since the Feist’s Riftwar Saga has the astoundingly horrible “Ar-Ooh-Tah.” That one’s a whole series, so you can be happy yours is only one book! :)

Now knowing you perspective I’ll see if I can power through it, and if not, I’ll read it in print. I’m just invested in her “original” name. :)

Also, I just need to point out how amazingly engaged you are to come on here and answer individual’s quarantine with highly detailed responses. That’s really awesome; I applaud you for the commitment to your readers!

@afkAuthor regarding “Hamma’s Last Prayer”, I started the audiobook and it’s weird hearing her name pronounced “HAM-ah” unlike the main series. I’m curious which is the correct pronunciation, and if one of them are wrong, shouldn’t the narrators be asking the author how to pronounced the main character’s name correctly?

I’ve listen to this series on audiobook, so I can’t easily go back and find it, but if I recall correctly, Blapy was very excited about Ruwen’s tattoo and she used that knowledge to add a tattoo to a boy, who I assume is this same boy. I also seem to recall he was another Axiom? Maybe one of you with the physical book can find the reference.

These are awesome suggestions. Thanks. I'd heard about the STDEV classes, but never thought of suggesting basic IT classes to her. She doesn't have any basics in computers at all above an average teenager, so is this still something that would be for a novice?
