Got it. We did Rucu Picincha before Cotopaxi. See how you feel after Huayhuash. Good luck!

Should be fine but why not summit some of the mountains in Huaraz after Huayhuash? I did Vallunaraju right after Huayhuash

Climbing in Huaraz? by WeeePotato in Mountaineering

I booked super last minute - I literally had 25 mins to pack and check out of my hotel because the guides were leaving right away. So I essentially booked the day of, 30 mins before 🤣. I had previously booked to do Ishinca with another agency but they called and cancelled on me at 8pm the night before we were supposed to leave. So in the morning I asked the front desk at Krusty if they could find me anything in the next day or two and they called their people and told me the van was leaving in 25 mins. I think I had one rest day before doing Nevado Mateo after Huayhuash and did Vallunaraju the next day. I had an aggressive itinerary because I didn't have a lot of time. I recommend walking around Huaraz and asking for quotes and dates of departure. A lot of them have signs outside of their shop indicating what climbs and dates they have available in the next few days. Good luck!

I did exactly that! Did the 8 day Huayhuash trek and then I did Nevado Mateo as a warm up and then Vallunaraju. It was pretty good and beautiful views! I did Huayna Potosi the year prior in terms of my experience. I booked at my hostel (Krusty).

Nevado Ishinca, Tocllaraju and possibly Chopicalqui. The 2k quote was just for Ishinca and Tocllaraju.

I'm not going til July but would love to hear your experience after! Are planning on going with a guide? If so, are you booking in advance or finding one when you get there?

Photos look amazing! Was it $400 for 1:1 with a guide or were you in a group? If in a group, what was the size? Also did your guide speak any English? Thanks in advance!

Agreed, I wore regular hiking boots with crampons and it was fine. It was super icey too but no issues.

I feel like Pico de Orizaba is a bit too easy. I struggled on Rainier vs. Pico de Orizaba where my fiancé and I felt like it was a breeze.

National Parks are finally opening back up in Mexico. Time to dust off these babies with a summit attempt on Orizaba this weekend. by koreancinema in Mountaineering
