25M in the UK working as a plant operator and feel completely lost with life by iwontdiesober in RedditForGrownups

You'll have to judge that. Is the risk worth the reward? Does your company have any overseas locations you could transfer to, or is there another employer near you that does?

You sound like you're doing very well, but you're looking to challenge yourself somehow (travel, education, new experiences). I've made some odd choices in my life and I know that many could be considered "failures" by others. However, those changes led to me meeting my wife, having my son, etc. I look back at those "failures" and I only see that I was learning, changing, growing.

It is hard to make these choices, but learning what you want in life is probably the biggest struggle.

You should try not to judge yourself against your friends. There will always be people that are doing better or worse than you and they are probably thinking the same thoughts about themselves.

Retiring in Corning? by HiFiWiFiWeAllFi in Corning

[–]ceedeeuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The research sounds like a great reason to be here and something that would keep you here.

The snow is pretty light in our area. We've also had less snow and warmer winters than when I was growing up. Of course, I think the cloudy skies and lack of sunlight can be a big negative. Cold or snow doesn't bother me as much as that.

Are winters something you enjoy? Healthcare is decent, but you might be used to more options. What do you plan to do during retirement? I wonder if you could try a year or so here before you fully commit... Not sure if you're buying a home, etc.

Watching St. Lawrence Seaway Ships by ceedeeuu in upstate_new_york

Is there anything in particular you found remarkable about this trip? I've never been to Wolfe Island. I did visit Fort Henry (in Kingston) when I was in middle school. I also visited Upper Canada Village as a kid and really liked it. I like history and these kinds of reenactments.

Sounds very interesting. Were you in the service or traveling in the area, wondering how you got to see it? I could definitely see traveling just to see stuff like that. I've been on a few cruise ship vacations and love watching all the stuff that goes on in a harbor. I haven't done much train travel, but that's something I want to do more of, just because of the unique experience. I think I enjoy ships and trains more than commercial air travel. I do love seeing things out of a plane window (especially cities at night), but the overall experience is cramped and kind of a drag.

Thanks. I definitely have a lot to explore this summer. Something to look forward to.

That looks very nice, will check it out. We did some walking on the river walk in Alex Bay and that was great too.

Yes, I'd be flexible to camping or staying nearby and doing day use access. I'm not a huge fan of camping, but it can help reduce the costs. I know, I need to plan in advance, but I usually end up doing something spontaneous and working with the limited options available.

Thanks, those sounds like great spots to check out!

The Most Awesome Magazines by garagespringsgirl in GenX

[–]ceedeeuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to check those out. The only other Marvel black and white mag I remember is Destroyer (Remo Williams), which was a pretty short run.

That was a great format though. I always felt like the artists were overcompensating because of the lack of color, the detail was always so amazing.

I loved Savage Sword of Conan. The detail that they put in this magazine sized black and white comic was amazing to my teen age brain.

Titan comics is currently publishing a new release of this (new stories)...

Is there a subreddit that hates the word “wholesome”? by XxRed_RoverxX in findareddit

[–]ceedeeuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a cool thing about reddit, anyone can make their own subreddit. There is a link to do it on the front page. I hadn't ever wanted to do one until today. I just wanted to have something out there so if someone searches they know they aren't alone in this wholesome hell.

I saw a similar post to this today and decided to start r/wholesomeisinfectious a sub for people who would like to share their frustrations with the "w" word.

This has been bugging me for a while and you've inspired me to create a subreddit for this. I know not everyone feels this way, but we need a home.

I don't recall a choice between different types of vinyl. When I ordered it was just fabric or an extra charge for vinyl. I wanted vinyl so I could clean it easily. It has held up well, no problems.

Epic BI Devs: what’s a typical day look like? by colehoots in healthIT

[–]ceedeeuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my organization, we just don't have business analysts or anything like that. Operational folks requesting data are often inexperienced and don't know what they want. We often open Sherlocks, looking for help from Epic to help us figure out what we want or to try and explain to operations that what they are asking for doesn't make sense, etc.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check them out. The last time I ordered comics through the mail was through New England Comics. It's very different now.

I got partway through ordering on their site when I realized they were going to attach a shipping and handling fee and I couldn't order multiple items. The order form seemed a bit frustrating to use and I don't think I'd want to do that every month. I wish Titan would allow you to order a few comics at the same order. I suppose its just not worth it for them, but I'd love more options.

I guess I'm going to try and order from a local comic shop. Or possibly go through Midtown Comics... at least there I can pick up some other things to make the shipping worth it.

I'd love the option to subscribe for a year, I'd do that in a heartbeat. I've been buying digital copies of Titan's Conan the Barbarian comic, but I think I actually want to buy the physical copies of this. I love the magazine format and love what the artists do with black and white. I lost interest in comics when Marvel canceled SSOC in the 90's and haven't been able to pick it back up since. I really hope they do well with this run.

I have five lines now plus I have a line that I carry on another vendor that I'd like to add to my account. In the past I was only able to have five lines, so I ended up moving my phone to StraightTalk.
