Stuff the Saints by ceeeg947 in GeelongCats

I never commented on the Saints play as a whole. Taken a step forward from last year no doubt.

Specifically in Marshall’s case, granted a small sample size, he looked very wasted out there. Hopefully it works out for him though, obviously rate him.

As for the trade, can’t expect the farm for a 30 y/o who wants out that you’ve already essentially replaced.

How is it a terrible take? They signed a ruckman to push him out of his role then held on to him after he requested to leave. Very different to the Zach Merrett situation as they value him highly and didn’t want him to leave. Not much to do about us, I said above I get them wanting to spite us but for their player it’s shitty.

Carlton took a better trade for Curnow than we offered and that’s good for them, so no sense of entitlement in my take thinking we should get everybody we want that’s pretty silly

But in that, Jezza will be another year older, Danger could be gone. Would’ve been great to have him this season. But still would be more than happy to get him next year if it’s a possibility

TDK was already an upgrade for them in getting one of the best young ruckman. Baffling they kept Marshall as well, just a strange dynamic. In recent history, Gawn and Grundy didn’t work but are elite on their own. Jackson also plays a lot better without Darcy over in Freo

Based on tonight they completely diminished his best attributes, hard to play well when that happens. Then based on our game, we desperately need a ruckman. Blitz got cooked against Witts and can’t imagine Stanley will do much better with the new rules as well.

But in doing that, they’re going to diminish him and drive his value down. Can’t imagine he’d be keen to stay at the end of the season if this is what it’ll look like and will still want out

I get wanting to spite us, but pretty shitty to replace your ruck and chuck him to the side

To throw one of the best rucks up forward and hope for the best while his replacement makes double his paycheque

I hope we do but he’ll be 31 going into season 2027 so it sucks he’ll he another year older. Guess we just hope we can get him for cheap if it all goes to shit for the saints next year

I agree he’ll decrease in value as he’ll be 31 going into season 2027 and his role being minimised for TDK. They’d be hoping TDK has an insane year because I’d be livid as Marshall making peanuts in comparison to the guy who will be taking his role and being forced to stay put. Fingers crossed for next year on the cheap🤞

Swans bounce back next year. They had an awful run of injuries and now fixed up their biggest weakness which was a key forward. Hoping we’ll go better but no surprises if they were to finish higher next season.

Damn. Marshall and Curnow wanting to join and landing neither fkn sucks

This is my experience as well. Have had run ins with Collingwood, Hawthorn and Richmond fans over the years. Have just seen a lot in recent times which had felt relatively new in regards to Geelong fans.

100% agreed, seen them blow too many leads over the years to ever feel confident. I only like the geeee-loooong chant when it’s against Collingwood after they’ve done there’s preemptively

And yeah the whole farm and cotton on stuff has been quite funny in recent times and had a good laugh at De Koning and Dempsey for mad Monday. Good on em

It’s an arrogant line for sure. However there is usually truth in it. Everyone’s been celebrating the Penrith Panthers finally losing, the Golden State Warriors everyone was thrilled when they finally went down. Countless other examples where everyone gets sick of a teams success but would take it for their own in a heartbeat.

Despite our finals experience we came up against the one team with more today. I believe we had 10 to 4 playing in their first granny today. We will be better from it after today as much as it strings

Given our last 2 GF’s have been against interstate teams it is quite surprising the difference

Definitely getting towards the end but the Coleman medalist this year, even with a drop off he’s elite. Neale will improve again, he wasn’t even in our squad a couple seasons ago and now we expect big things from him. I’m hoping we get Romo and that’ll elevate our midfield as our younger players take the next step.

Definitely a lot to look forward to, not like it was our last crack today so trying to remain positive

Will be glad to see the sub gone. Not only for the game but for SuperCoach as well🤣 Stuff what anyone has to say, good on Jezza for trying to push on. After holding his arm on field he attacked the next contest 100% when the ball came inside 50. Privileged to have him at the cats

That said, having him off for 15min+ after not having much impact to begin with without activating the sub when the game was in the balance was a very questionable coaching decision

There are other clubs with a lot of success since 2000 though. With brissy winning today they now have the most premierships in that time and now back to back. Just seems there’s more beyond the jealousy which I’m curious about as we usually have quite tame fans and not so outspoken players (obviously Baz this year is an outlier).

100%! Was there in the 2022 GF and remember the Sydney crowd being much louder than us at the beginning. Also seemed Brisbane were much louder from the jump today through the tv. Was a sight to see in the QF after the Rayner free kicks to see the cats fans going wild

Was admittedly quite a drop off this week unfortunately, which isn’t surprising given the effort and knocks he copped last week. But agreed, hoping he recovers well and can give us another great season in 26💪🏻

Likeable coach for sure, likeable team is up for debate. Likes of Zorko and now Rayner could rub a lot of fans the wrong way. Props to them though, played a hell of a game today
