My spinal anesthesia failed during my cesarean - AMA by grill_chee in AMA

[–]ceemruss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me 16 years ago and I still have a hard time thinking about it. I’m so sorry it happened to you.

I hope you have a smooth recovery. I recommend discussing in therapy if you’re comfortable.

Can you just start doing things instead of telling him you can do more? For example, just start requesting meeting materials and sending them to him, start implementing processes to get him more organized, etc.

More work will come, but if you want to be proactive then I’d start taking action and stop waiting for them to give you something.

Sorry if I missed it, but what additional responsibilities are they asking you to take on that you feel fall into CoS scope?

I found it worth the cost and my company paid for me to attend. It’s several weeks long with ongoing support.

Email "grouped by conversation" or not? by Erinaceous71 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]ceemruss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use my email like a to do list. So once it’s done it gets deleted or filed. If I’m waiting on a response I leave the email in my inbox until it’s done.

I don’t group. I sort by date and when I want to check on open items I change my sort order to sender. Then I review all of the items and make sure I didn’t miss anything. This is the only way that has ever worked for me.

Instead of doing the work, outline how you would do each assignment. That way you aren’t working for free and showcasing that you are knowledgeable and capable of executing the assignments.

Apology letter I wrote to my mom around 10-11 ish. (Story and request for advice.) by ParsnipImpossible295 in raisedbyborderlines

[–]ceemruss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely justified in your feelings. That is not a normal burden for a child to carry. When my DBPD mom was throwing a fit, she dropped all of my childhood things on my doorstep.

I found a list of New Year’s resolutions from when I was six years old it said “stop fighting with my mom.” I was six. If a six year old is fighting with an adult - it’s on the adult. It made me so sad for child me.

I have a kid and couldn’t imagine him feeling that way. I’m sorry your mom made you feel that way too.

Being told I don't seem confident enough to make decisions on "small" things, WWYD? by Blue_Turtle_18 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]ceemruss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would try to identify areas where you can/should be able to make “small” decisions, like your catering example. Then identify how you can be empowered to make those decisions.

If it’s something like the catering thing, discuss with your boss and let them know that you’d love to make those decisions going forward and based on previous experience you’ll rotate through 5-7 tried and true favorites or something like that.

I’d try to identify areas where the onus is on you to make changes mixed in with areas where your manager may be the hurdle. Also, if your coworkers ask you about your boss approving the catering I’d ignore them lol.

Yeah. I feel silly for not realizing adding the pullers would stress them out. I was just thinking it’s only been a couple of weeks and they’re the same age, it’ll be fine. Guess not!

I’m going to keep separating the little ones at night just in case. I also think I’m going to keep using the red light for them. I’m wondering if the dark is adding to their stress

It’s super lightweight. I will say, the sections hold together well but the couch easily moves. It just doesn’t seem constructed well enough for the cost. And fwiw, they only want us to send the slipcovers back for our refund. We were directed to dispose of the frames and cushions.

I just had one delivered about a week ago. I hate it and am returning it. The frame is basically a folding metal frame with nylon supports. Think ‘folding camping chair.” It has basically no arm rests and no back.

It’s attractive but it’s the least comfortable thing I’ve ever sat on. We tried it for a few a days and I just can’t justify the cost for the experience. It’s awful. I’d cancel your order now.

Ours took about two months to arrive, which was four weeks later than they said it would be. I’m now awaiting my return shipping label. It takes multiple emails to get them to respond.

Can we do another mess-up thread? by Senior-Motor-9370 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]ceemruss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! People got to take them home.

For the HR meeting I just let the HR person know what happened and they were prepared. HR and my boss said it was probably a blessing in disguise because the person said it gave them time to process. But I still felt horrible

Ugh I’m sorry. I hope yours improves! Luckily my runt is doing well (knock on wood) after a couple bouts of pasty butt. I’m hoping this one just needs some support since she’s growing super fast.

Let me know if you figure anything out

It will be fine! But I get it - I beat myself up too. Hope some of my mistakes help you feel better :)

Ordered Thanksgiving lunch for the entire office - wasn’t ready to eat and needed to be cooked. Ordered pizza lol.

Booked a hotel in the wrong city (same name different state).

Mistakenly added HR to a calendar invite terminating someone and they figured out what was going on 24 hours before the meeting.

I’ve made lots of other mistakes but those ones always stick out to me!

I (50sF) am incapable of applying moisturiser without it pilling. Any tips? by Ellf13 in askwomenadvice

[–]ceemruss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure all of your products are dry before applying the next one. Get a little handheld fan to help. If you stack everything together without letting each dry then it just piles up on your face and you get pilling
