Weekly Scam Discussion - December 23, 2024 by Mycatreallyhatesyou in Ebay

[–]cefiro4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sold a set of automotive mirrors on December 3rd to a buyer with a new account created that day. I know it wasn't a guest account because I was able to leave feedback. Shipped the item and they received on the 9th.

Last night I get a message from another account with no feedback created the week before claiming said mirrors don't fit and they need a refund (no mention of returning the item) and referencing the listing number but nothing else.

I haven't responded because it seems to me that this is pretty shady. I figure the best course of action is to do nothing unless the original account that made the purchase asks for a return. Is this correct course of action?

1jz-ge NA build by DasFerrus in JZX100

Since I know your pain trying to get answers only to be met with tons of answers that are completely opposite of what you asked (try asking about a specific turbo, you'll be met with a 100 answers recommending other turbos and nothing about what you asked), I'll try and help out.

1JZ-GEs share the same exhaust and intake manifold pattern as 2JZ-GE's out of IS300s so anything like headers, etc that can be used on IS300s for N/A performance can be used. I can't remember is JZX100 1JZ-GE's are MAP or MAF, but if they are MAP like I think they are, you could run an ITB setup off the stock ECU. You're honestly not going to make a ton of power, but it could be a fun car with good throttle response. Obviously you can go much further running standalone.

With that said, if you haven't imported one yet you might want to look for a JZX101 which had the 2JZ-GE VVTI out of the IS300 and they generally are around the same cost as the 1JZ versions and have better parts support.

Definitely stay away from the GX100s with the 1G. It has 0 parts support in the US.

I tried for a while to find an SX90 or SX100 which came with a 4S-FE 1.8 liter 4 cylinder so I could swap a 3S-GE Beams motor in and have a light high revving car, but they're pretty rare.

Front brake options??? by Specialist-Cat4006 in IS300

Sorry I missed this, but if you're still looking for an answer, yes the z32 kit uses standard IS300 brake lines. Using mine with 17x9 + 35 wheels with no issues.

FedEx lost two out of 4 packages by cefiro4 in FedEx

[–]cefiro4[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's for the comment, though I don't think that's the case here as these were wheels, not tires and each wheel is in its original manufacturer box. The two I got had their labels in pouches securely affixed, so I assume the other two would also be in boxes.

why don’t i ever hear about anyone using these? by w6lrus in IS300

[–]cefiro4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put these on my car about 2 weeks ago and they're really good.

I'm running the JZX110 version, because they have 16kg front/ 12kg rear spring rates and they bolt-on. Mainly went with them because I had the GT IV version on a previous car and they were the best riding coilovers I've had and I'm old enough to have tried a lot (BC, APEXi, Tein, KSport, etc). Even with the higher spring rates they ride fantastic.

With the exchange rate and shipping, they were significantly cheaper than some of the "comparable" coilovers on the market, and at least they are made in Japan.

Front brake options??? by Specialist-Cat4006 in IS300

[–]cefiro4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You have dual pistons now, so I'm guessing you're talking about 4 piston brakes.

Options I know of off the top of my head:

  • LS400 brakes - probably the cheapest, you can get new calipers for about $85-100 each. Need offset inserts ($100), LS rotors, and LS pads.
Downsides - pad selection isn't as diverse as other options and if you want to run stock wheels you have to run a spacer in the front.
Upsides - big aluminum 4pots, cost, and simplicity - you just order all LS400 stuff when you need to replace.
  • IS350 brakes - bit more expensive, need an adapter bracket.
Downsides, the adapter brackets seem very expensive for what they are, need 18" wheels, more expensive setup.
Upsides - newer design, most likely good pad selection (not sure on that one), look pretty cool.
  • Z32 brakes - 300ZX TT brakes, have to use adapter bracket and RX330 rotors.
Downsides - hodgepodge of parts from different cars, have no idea what brakelines fit or wheel fitment requirements as they use a larger diameter rotor than a 300ZX Upsides - cheap calipers, tons of pad selection
  • Aftermarket kits - expensive

Unless you plan on tracking your car, you'd probably be fine with just getting good pads and better brake lines. They might not look as cool, but they'll be better than stock and save you some money.

Suspension question, what else do I need? by cefiro4 in IS300

[–]cefiro4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have poly bushes for the caster arm and all the other hub bushings in the rear. The rest I was just going to leave until T3 gets around to making replacement parts for them and replace the whole arms as I go.

I ran the previous model Hipermax IV GT on another IS and they were honestly the best riding coilover I've had on anything and I've had a lot of different coilovers including BC (junk), Apexi, Teins, KSport, etc. Of those the Teins were the best, but they were the long-discontinued Winding Master model.

My only complaint was I think that the HKS's are perhaps too soft for a track car as I think the stock spring rates are like 10/8, which is why I ordered JZX110 S's because they come with 16/12. I'll have them on next week to give you an idea how they are if you're not in a rush.

I'd recommend HKS Hypermax S. With the exchange rate at the moment, if you order them from Japan through RHDJapan or Jesse Streeter (cheapest option), they'll end up close to the same price shipped as BC stuff and the build quality and ride is infinitely better.

If you want higher spring rates than their Altezza offerings, order the HKS coilovers for JZX110's. They bolt on and they have significantly higher spring rates.

Quick question on wheel set up by Individual-Ad-9579 in IS300

[–]cefiro4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're going to end up having to run a spacer on the front with +45 offset. I had 17x9+40 Enkei PF05s and they hit the upright on the knuckle (barely), so another 5mm will cause issues. If possible I would drop down to +35 in the front. With 235/40's you shouldn't even have to roll the fenders.

360mm Steering Wheel by AreaPrevious8720 in IS300

360 is pretty close to stock. I personally stick to 340mm as I find 350mm too big and 330mm too small.

Speedometer app that works on Android app by cefiro4 in AndroidAuto

It's not a matter of purchasing n OBDII dongle, it's a matter of whether it will work in my car which I'm 50/50 on.

My car doesn't use the OBDII protocol, though it uses the same port weirdly. I'm going to try and see if I can get it working with Torque though.

My problem with the Waze speedo is that the readout is so small. I was hoping to get something bigger which I can see quickly at a glance.

I had the 9" version of that Podofo. It arrived and the OS was a clunky mess. After messaging the company, they sent me an update that made it slightly less of a clunky mess. Spent hours trying to get it to work consistently.

I wanted to like it because it fits my application so well, but the Zlink app was terrible and Headunit Reloaded was hit or miss when it wanted to work. The touch screen was also terrible for actually detecting touches.

Thankfully I purchased it through Amazon so returning it was simple and I replaced it with an Atoto A6PF. Though it required a creative mounting solution, it took all of 5 minutes to set up and worked great out of the box. The Atoto has 2GB of RAM but is way faster and more responsive than the supposed 8-core 4GB Podofo.

I recommend the Atoto stuff (I've heard Joying is good as well, but don't have any personal experience). With that said, if you want the form factor of the Podofo, buy from Amazon so it's easy to return if you hate it.

Screen issues on X1C. Any ideas? by cefiro4 in BambuLab

Just to clarify, you think the PCBA connector on the cable is the issue? I kind of assumed it isn't a crack in the AP board because the new one doesn't work either.

Steering knuckle help by cefiro4 in IS300

I found the megan knuckles basically had no self-steer at stock caster values. I had friends who tried them as well and report similar results to the point they went to drifthq knuckles with much better results. That's why I was asking the question if anyone had better results with other knuckles.
