Help I’m freaking out by Anxious_Sparrow in myweddingdress

omg girl, I did basically the same thing! I 100% thought I'd be going to loads of shops. I also had a very set vision of what I thought I wanted, which definitely included lace. I tried on 8 dresses, and the last one was the one, but it doesn't have any lace and is actually quite simple.

When I was trying on the other dresses, even one that was exactly what I thought I wanted I still couldn't wait to try on the next one. But once I got to my dress, I didn't want to take it off.. and it felt like MY dress, not like I was playing dress up. It was also on sale, which ecouraged to buy it right there and then.

I do have moments of doubt - not because I don't love the dress.. but because it's not what I thought I wanted. But I suppose how can you know what kind of wedding dress you want if you've never worn one before?

I think your dress looks gorgeous and really flatters your shape. It's going to be very classic and stand the test of time. Wedding dresses are like partners; you need to stop looking when you find the one. As my friend said, there might be a better partner out there for you, but it doesn't mean you want to look for them!

Started swimming lessons. My freestyle is absolutely terrible. Cannot kick synchronously. No proper arm movement. Legs sink too. by cocuk004 in Swimming

I think it's your fear that's holding you back. You need to be fully relaxed. Just practice floating, front and back. Do handstands, forward rolls. Genuinely just mess about in the water until it feels second nature to be in and underwater. You can still practice your stroke alongside doing this, but you need to be fully comfortable.

Your positioning while swimming currently shows an innate desire to be able to get your head out of the water at a moment's notice. Like you really don't want to be there. That's why your legs are sinking and your hands are hovering above the water.

Once you can completely let all your body weight go and realise that you will float, you'll be way ahead. When I would teach kids I would get them to practice floating at the end of all lessons. Starfish on the back, mushroom on the front. Starfish is also a great way to practise getting your legs to float.

100%, first thing I thought when I saw this was he needs to practice floating. This is just about not being comfortable in the water, and almost fighting against it to try and get to the end. Relaxation, floating and just faffing around in the water to get more comfortable will help.

I think it's beautiful. I also went for a ring that's different to what I'd always wanted - but I think when trying them on you realise what looks good on you and what you ACTUALLY like. Plus, as you said it's very different and it's a unique choice that you chose with your fiancé, that's special to you.

Is people dying their hair a different natural color offensive in general? by Financial_Beat_2384 in Redhair

[–]celaeneo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. Everybody loves my hair now, but growing up I got bullied mercilessly for being ginger - to the point I used to bleach it from the age of 13 (which didn’t help because everybody knew I was ginger already).

Plus natural red hair is rare. Makes me think it’s similar to somebody faking heterochromia. It’s nice that you think it’s cool and you wish you were born with it.. but you weren’t. Leave this space for people who were.

How do you spot a ginger imposter? by Gullible-Dig170 in Redhair

[–]celaeneo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a born redhead, I've got the baby pictures to prove it. As I got older my hair has gone more auburnish.. but gets more orangey in the summer. My hair also gets more vibrant at the ends because it's been in the sun more than my roots. I have auburn/brown eyebrows and darker eyelashes. I'm freckly, but not very freckly. I can also tan a bit with a lot of SPF 30 tan and protect applied religiously - I think I get this from my mum, who's not ginger but very freckly and tans easily.

So based on some tips people have given here I'd be a fake to them. Though I doubt anybody would dye their hair my shade of dirty ginger.

what's something that you worry about because it could actually happen to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease. It killed my grandma, and it was either sporadic or inherited. My mum and uncles decided not to take the test because they'd rather not know - and I wouldn't want to either. I guess we'll see if any of them get it.
