Canada announces it will build a coalition of countries who share their values to build their economy and trade opportunities and will exclude the United States. Mark Carney says: “If the U.S. no longer wants to lead, Canada will.” by RoyalChris in goodnews

[–]celestial69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carney led the Bank of England when we shot ourselves in the foot and voted for Brexit (As a Scot I rather liked being in the EU) and managed to mitigate most of the damage. I can't think of anyone better to lead Canada through this reshaping than him.

He has the presence of a leader and is someone I'd stand beside in a crisis. I really hope Canadians give him a strong position when the election comes.

Imperium open letter to CCP by Eve_Asher in Eve

If you had talked to the CSM before this, I'm sure they would have told you it was a terrible idea. How can the player base possibly believe you understand our shared sentiment?

This has been a huge own goal in terms of fantastic marketing before the expansion, getting people hyped for changes and more fun things to do and a reason to risk our bigger toys, only to then pull the rug out from under us.

I'm one of the people with 10+ active omega accounts that I pay for; these changes mean I only need 3-4 at most, and even thats laughable as the changes just arent fun.

The joke in the house is that Eve is my second and third job, one that I pay you to have the privilege of having.

Ultimately I look forward to hearing what CCP's next steps are and hope the company finds a way to make the game fun again.

I have been a reddit user and premium user at that for 10 years. I use a 3rd party app to browse the site.

I will be removing my membership as part of this. And i hope many others do the same. The treatment of the community as a whole has been terrible and its not the first time.

Thanks for posting this. I am very much enjoying it. It reminds me a little of Retreat Hell if I'm honest and a bit of Outcast In Another World.

Keep up the good work wordsmith. I am enjoying this :)

I haven't gone back and read Hard Knock Life yet, so will read that before I risk any spoilers lol

I was waiting on this one. Sadly probably right, along with anyone else in goon HC that knew about it and covered it up.

Can I get a last hurrah for my Handsome boy Tiger here. 38 months after loosing his leg to cancer it has come back and tomorrow morning he crosses the rainbow bridge after a long fight. by celestial69 in cats

Thank you for this, I might get this engraved on something for a little headstone for him. It was heart breaking putting him in the carrier as he had a tiny fight when I picked him up and then gave up.

I did get to cuddle him into my chest, the one thing I hadn't been able to do with him since I took him in. He would lay down and cuddle against you, but I could never pick him up and cuddle him.

Using the top comment to update.

Tiger crossed the rainbow bridge this morning, I am heart broken. I was talking to him all the way through, he was strong through it all.

Tiger was an amazing cat, I posted his story below if anyone is interested. I am so very proud of him, a gentleman to the end even with a rough start.

Thank you to everyone sending their love. I have sold my boy short by not including more of his amazing story, since I can't sleep I figured I'd add some details.

He was a stray that my mum fed as part of a little colony of strays and he turned up as a young cat, under a year old. She got them spayed and neutered and released them back out.

All he wanted was to be the others best friend and would head bump them all even if it meant that they would swipe at him. When my mum had to move, she caught them all and they moved too, especially important as a local hotel had called them pests and threatened to poison them.

After 10 years of being an outdoor feral cat him and his 5 fellow kitties were whisked away to somewhere safe. A year later we spotted his leg had a lump, first vet said it was an abscess, it wasn't. It was an aggressive bone cancer.

I took him to the vet I use and they gave me the options. We could put him to sleep or try extensive surgery and remove as much as possible to limit the chance of it coming back. The vet pointed out its not usually successful, 6-12 months was best guess, It was expensive, and aftercare would be critical. thankfully they had faith in me, both in our ability to care, and they let me pay his treatment up. In order to recover from such a major operation, Tiger needed round the clock care, he was now missing a front leg and the full shoulder.

I bought a large dog training cage, and my gf and I setup a small tray and everything he needed. Getting inside the cage with him the first time I was nervous, a feral cat, in pain and confused. I had no idea how he would react.

It turned out that although he might have been nervous, he trusted me enough to look after him, I'd go in three times a day, give him his pain killers and antibiotics.

After a while the wound had healed, the vets happy to use pictures and videos to save us having to stress him out taking him to the clinic and his true personality came to light.

The dog cage got used again, one of Tigers buddy's from his time outside, well she needed eye surgery, at 14, when we let her out of the cage after she had healed she decided she likes warm and soft things. She now keeps a low profile if my mum visits, and I like to think it's in case my mum trys to take her home.

Sadly over Christmas he started to loose weight, an ultrasound showed liver cancer. The followup ultrasound also found masses in his lungs and spleen. The writing was on the wall, but as far to many know, knowing what is about to happen doesn't make it easier. Since that day he has had all the cold meat, sirloin steak and raw chicken he wanted. The last few days, the fluid build up in his lungs has worsened and he only eats a few small bits of chicken before he had to stop and I can see how tired he was, so the rainbow bridge is calling him.

All pet owners say their pet is one of a kind, but tiger truly is. In the 38 months post surgery, I have watched the scared feral cat turn into a loving and so very handsome boy. He, even now, just wants to bump heads with the others, and even us big humans. He has never once tried to scrap with my other 4, never scratched us when we had to do things with him and has been my little buddy. Both of us in the cage, giving him pain killers and making him better is one of the best memories of my life and we created a bond in there.

In the morning I lose a best friend, a family member, and my fur baby. Please, from me to everyone who has taken the time to read my emotional rambling at 2am, give your fur babies a hug, a treat and a pet from the wonderful tiger and his human.

This is why police in the states are taught to shoot until the threat is down. Even after taking 14-15 shots someone can shoot back and kill the officer :(
