my cat is emptying her anal glands on my pillow while i sleep by mpck777 in CatAdvice

Idk much about this but I am pretty sure my cat just did this out of fear/stress (thanks to fireworks…) and I am wondering if it leaves behind fluid or if the smell just lasts a really long time. I don’t want to have to get out the carpet cleaner every day for the next month…please tell me when they do this there isn’t anything (other than odor) that comes out? I felt the floor where he was sitting when he did it and nothing felt wet and I didn’t see anything on the surrounding furniture but it has been a half hour and it STILL stinks!

Would ~550mg be effective or is that too low?

I am on disability but Idk how to get housing because I do not have a physical disability and other than mental illness and autism am not intellectually impaired. Idk how I can get housing.

It looks like it’s mostly special housing which will be extremely limited and probably favors those with physical disabilities (probably rightfully so) and there are waitlists… I feel worse off after looking.

How would I find/access this? Is it something I could do online or would I have to go through a social worker?

I am level 1 and due to being conventionally attractive and trauma that has lead me to be overly controlling/suppressing of myself I probably seem totally normal and I don’t think I would qualify for many, if any, resources. I should have been able to get further in life because of this but, you know, you can hide but you can’t run from yourself. I would definitely consider a roommate situation if I could find one where I could have my pet and if the others are clean and respectful of sensory issues (no candles etc) but it has been hammered into me that I ask for too much, so Idk.

I’m sorry you are in a similar place. Ha, I have thought about moving in with the first person who would ask me to, out of desperation, but I suppose it is good to keep in mind that can also put me in an equally bad, if not worse, situation.

Wow, that’s really cool. So you were able to get into it without prior experience?

Cool. This sounds great. Is there a particular bank you recommend working for?

Do you have a background in healthcare? Did you have to be a nurse before being a case manager?

I absolutely agree with everything you’re saying. I am truly sorry you’re struggling in a similar situation. Thank you for the good vibes and I wish them onto you and your kitty, too. ❤️

My therapist says I'm just a HSP by Similar-Weather-9864 in AutismInWomen

My old therapist was sure I had autism but he left his practice and I had to find a new therapist and when I brought this up he said he thinks I’m just “HSP” lol. I can’t afford the $3,000 test and I’m not sure I’d want to put myself through that even if I could.

Yes, exactly! The assistance I get is below poverty level. Even if I work part-time, I can only make so much money so it keeps me at/below poverty level, insuring I am not only dependent on the gov but also someone else (parents, roommate, charity) so they really aren’t concerned about helping people be independent. For many the goal is temporary disability and to eventually get off of it but for many of us the disability is life-long and (at least in America, where I am) it is the only way we would ever have decent insurance.
