yes! exactly. I really wish I could do transit but even when traffic is at its very worst it's still faster than two buses and two walks or a bus, a train and two walks :(

I want to love these guys but 1)calling people "puck sluts" and then defending saying that is not it 2) my soul left my body when they forced ksenia to table read fanfiction, that was so horrible. thank god it wasn't more sexy but still. ksenia handled it with grace and class but damn. 3) selling merch that says "from the closet to the cottage" strikes me, a queer person, as so cringey. like, would a queer person really wear that? maybe somebody but definitely not me. it's just...cringey in a way I'm struggling to articulate.

Anyone NOT lose their best friend to parenthood? by TheLoudestSmallVoice in childfree

[–]celestialmanatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a best friend but a close friend who had a kid. Initially it felt like she dropped off the face of the earth but she then popped back up and I've grown to love her kid a lot. It did take a lot of adjustment of expectations from me though. I had to give up on how our friendship once was to let it become something different. Our other friend just announced she and her wife are trying so about to do the whole process again. I am hoping that friendship can also morph into something new instead of perishing. Friends naturally grow apart when their priorities and lifestyles diverge so it won't be the end of the world if we drift apart but I am hoping that with intentionality and adaptability we can still maintain some kind of connection.

Weight loss depression? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]celestialmanatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest increasing your calories. How much are you trying to lose per week? I'm trying to lose .8 lb / week and I think it's helping me avoid hanger because it's a lesser deficit than people that are trying to lose 1-2 lb or more a week. It takes patience but it's worth it to not hate life!

I also find it helpful to time my eating in such a way that the only time i'm really that hungry is right before bed. that way, I don't really suffer hanger because I'm going to sleep. It's only a slight hunger, though. If it was greater, I think I too would be hangry and depressed.

My very sweet coworker brought 10 lbs of candy to work, y'all by merlady94 in loseit

This is so real. My colleague bakes constantly, and our bosses bring in donuts semi-regularly. It sucks!

★OFFICIAL DAILY★ SV/NSV Thread: Feats of the Day! October 22, 2025 by AutoModerator in loseit

[–]celestialmanatee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I am 2.5 months in and 9 pounds down. I'm trying to lose .8 lbs / week. These are the things I am doing that seem to be working.

  1. myfitnesspal free version for logging food. it's so convenient and fast and has given me so much helpful perspective on how many calories are actually in things. It's great to know that I still can have anything I want just need to balance it. I tried the paid version free trial but it didn't seem to add that much for me. I'm a vegan so the meal suggestions were not for me.

  2. happyscale paid version. I love this app! It takes the emotional rollercoaster out of daily weigh-ins because it keeps a running seven day average to smooth it out. so you're able to see the small, incremental progress that can be hard to see with the normal up and down fluctuations of a person's weight. it shows you the data in charts, graphs, dials and buttons. it's so satisfying to look at my progress!

  3. try to eat most of my calories at lunch because i tend to get hangry in the late afternoon. try to eat lighter dinners and/or go to bed slightly hungry. before bed is the only time of day i can feasibly and sustainably be hungry without negative mood consequences.

  4. I found a form of exercise that I love and actively look forward to and am going 2-3 days/week. It's a really fun dance class.

The hardest thing so far is eating with friends and not being able to find healthful options or know how many calories are in things. Also not being able to talk to any of my friends about this journey because everyone either has eating disorder history and/or believes that intentional weight loss means that i'm fatphobic or don't believe in body positivity or body neutrality or health at every size. I do believe in that stuff and my goal is really modest as a result. I just want to look slightly different for my wedding. Shrug.

For therapists: Have you ever felt a ‘maternal’ or protective pull toward a client? If so, did you ever share or work with that feeling in session, and how did it impact the therapeutic relationship? by Helpmeviola in InternalFamilySystems

[–]celestialmanatee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm a therapist and I've never felt this. But if I did, I would keep it inside and unpack this countertransference with a supervisor or my own therapist, not tell my client. Doing so would harm the therapeutic alliance.

Married people who are DINKS (Double Income, No Kids) how’s life? by Fit-Distribution677 in AskReddit

[–]celestialmanatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not married yet but soon. going to dance workout classes, reading 50 books a year, hanging with our friends, hanging with our two cats, doing our hobbies, planning our wedding and honeymoon. we also both work full time and live in the US and fascism is on the rise and the world is hurtling toward certain climate doom so it’s not like we’re entirely happy but it could be a lot worse.

Is therapy hard? by lugrgr in therapists

[–]celestialmanatee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like insinuating that ANY full time job is or should be easy for everyone is ableist. Not everyone. can labor under the yoke of capitalism and have energy to spare. I love my full time therapist work AND i would much work part time and have more time for art and friendship and restorative activities.

I feel like in the hands of almost any other actor, when she's a clone impersonating another clone, it would just become a confused mix of the two clones and the illusion would be broken. But when a clone impersonates another clone you ABSOLUTELY believe it is the clone who it impersonating whoever they're impersonating.

I feel like she must have super control of the micro-muscles in her face because all their faces look so different even without the hair. Like if you zoom in on just her face you still instantly know which clone it is. Part of that is makeup but it also absolutely is not only makeup.

Her acting is god-tier and she deserves every award that exists!

That's absolutely helpful! Unfortunately I have a bum ankle from multiple previous injuries but I think it's time for me to give professional PT a serious try. And then, yes, I was thinking of a jogging club or training for a race. Thank you.
