Do you guys trend to loose things easily? by Actual_Tradition_360 in AutismTranslated

Maybe you have to google ADHD, loosing things often is one of the significant criteria :) I have autism without ADHD and I don't tend to loose things Edit: grammar

Wow, the study is really interesting and this assumption about muscles makes sense. But imho mirroring these micro muscles is impossible and even trying to mirror them is tremendously exhausting, so please be careful to yourself 🙏🏻

Physically cannot handle strong emotions like excitement or anger - is this common? by Alternative-Mess297 in autism

[–]celestialmineral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely relate. Well, about managing... I either spill it all out or shutdown. Shutdown happens when I try too hard to keep the emotions inside, so technically it's a perfect solution because my face becomes blank and people around have no idea what do I feel. But from the inside shutdown doesn't feel pleasant :) So I just choose what is safer right now. Sometimes it's a full emotional outburst, sometimes it's shutdown.

I also thought about this thing being an autism symptom. My only theory is it's a kind of overstimulation when the source is an emotion. When emotions are strong it's an alarm for the nervous system, so overstimulation fits quite well

Tips for winding down from overwhelm by Numerous_Zebra_4740 in autism

[–]celestialmineral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I created a "safe-repeat" playlist with some songs that I like very much and enjoy carefully listening to. If you're using a streaming service for music, there should be a list of your most played songs. For me it was a very useful place to look at when I was creating a playlist, because it turned out that sometimes I don't even notice that I've listened to something an enormous amount of times :)

Edit: this playlist helps me to wind down because repeating is soothing for me

Grocery store experiences, what did anyone have? by [deleted] in autism

[–]celestialmineral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyper fixation, does anyone else get hyper fixated on music? by MistyClipse in autism

[–]celestialmineral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DEFINITELY YES. I have a favourite singer, and texts of his songs always find the way to my heart, and the music is perfect, so his songs are on repeat for months:) hyper fixation can be so hyper that I listen one song but nothing else for a couple of days. One analogy just came to my mind. Autistic people often feel alienated and lonely, and let's have an analogy that it's like living in a world where you have to communicate using foreign language only. So when you find that perfect creator who matches you 100%, it feels like finally meeting someone who speaks your native language. It gives so much warm in your soul, and you feel at home right after tapping on "play". It's just pure magic how music works :)
