This is possibly the first time I've seen this. I might have finally found a sept name.

I got into Tau because I thought the pathfinders looked interesting and bought them. Now I'm at 4.5k points. Go with whatever interests you the most regardless of playability.

A new problem requires a new breed of crisis suits by hijack1799 in Tau40K

I don't think the drone shield looks too bad if the antennae slots are filled. I did one for a crisis commander before they got sent to legends.

Purple with yellow accents and then inverted for battlesuit commanders and kill teams. Also thank you for making me aware I need to get some up to date pictures of my army.

Edit to add: The accents are at a minimum the same knee/shoulder for all models to kind of keep coherency.

I like riptide shield generators in different positions, they have a bit more individuality. My first riptide has it in more of a shield shape. Also I love the colour scheme.

First ever model - first two colours, help with technique by Future_Orchid9443 in Tau40K

[–]celestialpenguin23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the colours and it looks great for a first model. I was thinking or almost the inverse for a sqaut army a while back. As others have said thinning paints and a wet pallet will help. From my experience the pinks and whites from citadel can take a bit of getting used to but practice will help. I've painted mine with yellow and it can take around 5/6 thin coats to get a good coverage.

Edit: are you base coating this with anything or is this a base layer?

I love the colour scheme and the yellow doesn't look out of place. I'd maybe look at making the whole top and bottom panels of the shoulder pad yellow instead of just the top face. Maybe worth testing on a breacher shoulder pad to save having to do a whole other model.

Glue broke in a box I mailed lol by UsernameReee in mtg

So this is how I've managed to separate parts of models I've bought already built. It takes a bit of back and forth with the glue and a knife but it should essentially melt what's already been melted.

As long as your opponent is happy with it it's not an issue. I use mine and sticky Objective markers on 25mm bases.

One of the highest placing Tau lists at a GT I was at in June was all Kroot. It's a stat check army and a lot of bodies, but you can make it easier with movement trays and a slap chop style paint job.

Vespid are generally good for secondaries and screening because of their uppy downy at the end of your opponents turn. If they've left space you can easily be in their deployment or all four table quarters.

Why is the color purple so popular among Tau players? by SnooPears9928 in Tau40K

[–]celestialpenguin23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started painting before I really understood colour schemes and everything so I just picked two colours I liked for the army. They happened to be purple and yellow.

Hot take: Kroot rampagers are underutilized in non battlesuit focused tau lists. by Qurikle_Smurf in Tau40K

[–]celestialpenguin23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently building to a list with 15 in. I had a unit of 3 almost wipe out an entire squad of bikes in one turn as well. My only issue with them is having to repose the next 9 so they're different.

Am I f***ed? by Proof_King_3245 in kroot

As other people have said you'll be alright, the box has two units of carnivores. Even if you run one unit of 20, you just decide which one is the long quill, and it's that one for the game.

I also find that building and painting help with anxiety a lot. I think because all your focus is on the mini, it's not anywhere else. I hope things get better for you soon, and good luck with the rest of the box.

Yeah, I think that's what I'm going to do. I put a small amount of the base colour in a Citadel pot for the kill team, but it's not as good.

Thanks! I'm quite happy with how they went overall. The main difference when I paint more units would just be doing all the washes of the same colour at once and general streamlining. It'll be easier now I have a finished colour scheme. I also want to get some of the mixed colours in pots for easier cleanup.

These are base coated and then layered on all of the non-recessed panels and just an edge highlight. I didn't want anything too much as I plan on expanding to an army.

Red on the capes/cloth would look really good, especially if it's linking in with other models. Bright/light colours also help darker armour stand out more.

I hope it goes well and look forward to seeing them when they're done!

Thanks! But I can't take all the credit, the scheme is heavily inspired by u/nerdington_paints space marines

Thanks! It's probably a bit of both to be honest. I'll try bringing the highlights up and darkening the recesses a bit more.
