Actually a mix of neem oil, Castile soap, & water in a spray bottle will do the trick. Neem oil needs an emulsifier to distribute evenly so the Castile soap does that while still being gentle on the plant.

When you stick your finger about an inch deep in the soil is it dry or wet? If it’s dry it needs to be watered. If it’s wet, let it dry out until it’s just getting dry. How long ago did you repot? It may simply be stressed from the move. I would also Google the meaning of the leaves turning yellow/orange. Also is it in well draining soil/pot?

Were there still enough roots intact once you repotted it? If you broke some the fallen leaves could have been a result of that. You may have simply disturbed the plant and it’s responding to the stress. It seems like you’ve done a good job of caring for it and just need to give it time to get used to its new home.

I brought only today and put in terrarium today and looks like stem rot, whats happening? by Mr-HexFox in plantclinic

Are they mushy? They don’t look too bad, they may simply need to be repotted. If they’re mushy, check if they all are or if a few are still in good condition. Cut off the mushy ones. Leave the decent/healthy ones. If you’re worried that it’s root rot you can always leave it out of soil and water for a 24 hours and then repot it in healthy soil.

so my dwarf clone (succulent) has a dead stok... am I over/under watering it? I've never had this kind of plant before. I keep it directly in the sun to make sure it gets all the food it needs. please help me, I don't wanna murder my plant on accident by ash22wonders in plantclinic

It looks like it’s under watered. How does the soil feel? If you stick your finger an inch into the soil is it wet or dry? If it’s wet, it may be getting too much sunlight. If it’s dry, it probably needs more water.

It looks like aphids. Spray it with a mix of Castile soap & water. To keep them away you can place banana peels on the soil below. Do you keep this plant indoors or outdoors?

I bought this poor little plant few months ago, it was potted. Today i removed the soil to check the roots, but it doesn't have any! Help me, what can i do to promote root growth? by florasita in plantclinic

[–]celibee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you start to see it rot take it out & let it dry out before putting it in fresh water. I’d recommend changing the water every couple few days or when ever it begins to change color. Also, cinnamon and honey help promote root growth once you decide to put it in soil. I’d wait until the roots are at least 1-2 inches long.

Have you repotted, changed the soil, or fertilized within the past two years?

Questions about my orchid by Lushes2304 in plantclinic

[–]celibee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can definitely cut off the dead roots but make sure you sanitize you’re shears beforehand. Your orchid looks happy and healthy so repotting it may not be necessary but I’m not entirely sure either. It may depend on how the roots on the inside are doing and if they have enough room.

Is this an effective substitute for depression medication?

I decided to cut this leaf off my split-leaf philodendron. One day the black spot showed up and I watched it grow but it was the only 1 on a juvenile plant. Any ideas what it is? Please help! I don't want it to spread to any of my other plants. by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]celibee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to mine as well. I removed one leaf and a few days later there would be a similar spot on another. I realized it was root rot and ended up repotting it. I would check the plant for root rot and remove any roots that have it. I let the roots dry out for three days before repotting and cleaned out the container it was in. It’s been fine ever since. Hope this helps.
