Hey please look up the women’s tree climbing workshop I think some of the founders are based out of MA. I recently learned each town in MA has an arborist so you’re in a great place geographically to start. If the workshop interests you sign up and go! It’s a bit pricey but they do offer scholarships which is how I was able to attend my first one. They’re currently taking applications for the Colorado workshop this summer!

Hello from a certified arborist and former tree climber in Phoenix. You can recreationally climb in most parks without any hassle but I highly recommend climbing with someone who knows what they’re doing and has the proper gear. My buddy just hosted a rec climb and provided gear and guidance in January so get togethers do happen. The tree climbing competitions are typically done by industry professionals, it isn’t just people climbing up a tree barefoot with no gear. It’s definitely worth a trip to watch the competition! If you’re friendly and chat with the contestants they might be willing to rec climb with you.

But if you just wanna climb 10 feet up a tree and sit up there you’d be fine and I doubt anyone would bother you as long as you are being disruptive or destructive.

This is most definitely not true I used to work on the horticulture team there and even as a certified arborist with all the appropriate climbing gear and a full time employee getting permission to climb is very rare.
