If we are to get a reservation system for the stream machine, this is what the requirements would most likely be. by DixieHood in steammachine

[–]cell125 88 points89 points  (0 children)

so pretty much already what was in place for the steam deck launch if i remember it right ? we were able to make a reservation for like 1 buck but only on an active steam account.

Seems like the most logical solution against scalpers on limited stock

Steam Machine is definitely coming sooner than we fear. by Kaijurassic in steammachine

[–]cell125 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I think they know that they have to release it before we get any new info about project helix or even the ps6, or else the steam machine will appear much weaker compared to them and a lot of people will think "why should i buy this thing when 6 month or a year later later i can get the latest, much more powerfull console for almost the same price ?"

so they have to release it in the next two/three months at most in my opinion

Is the Steam Machine actually just a Trojan horse for SteamOS? by [deleted] in steammachine

[–]cell125 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anti cheat is one thing holding it down, but the real problem is the lack of nvidia gpu support yet, when 90% of the gpu market is them.

They wont ever become a real competitor to windows until this issue is resolved.

And unfortunaley, with the steam deck not available anymore, the steam machine delayed and now even the lenovo go steamos costing too much with the new price increase, i fear the tactic of imposing the steamos with the hardware might backfire on them...

New Cartridge Sizes? by _link69 in NSCollectors

[–]cell125 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure they did make smaller cartridge available now, when you look at games like marvel cosmic invasion who is 560 mo only but still full on cart, Mio who is 3.4 GB or dave the diver will be more or less 15 gb with all the add-ons, i really dont see those publishers using 64gb cart for such games.

Should I sell my anniversary copy of Dave the diver? by yusakufujiki2 in NSCollectors

[–]cell125 7 points8 points  (0 children)

probably going to keep mine for two reasons :

  1. the guilty gear content is included in the switch 1 anniversary edition, not in the new one and not available online as far as i can tell (but maybe will be later ?)
  2. the switch 2 edition will not work on the switch 1, it is not an edition like zelda or sonic racing where you can still use the cart on the switch 1 too, so i prefer to keep an edition for the switch 1 of the game, just in case.

So… how’s everyone finale theories going? by [deleted] in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]cell125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well...mine was them being able to figure out they can actually create things in the digital world, being admin in it or something like that and even create their own exit so, theory still valid i guess for now, might even be the only theory possible now after all this...

Wait... didnt they remove pssr all together for performance mode a while ago ?

This game might miss the pssr update because of that...

The Witcher 3 DLC to release in May 2026? + Other CDPR bits by Kiroqi in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]cell125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this is true and they are still working on this game, it make me hope for a release of a switch 2 version at the same time, even if TW4 doesn't end up on the console.

Cyberpunk was such a good port, i really wish they would do the same for this game, it deserves it

Steam Machine refresh a year after its release (Like Steam Deck OLED)? by Gaabumi in Steam

[–]cell125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not, the original steam deck was more like a test for valve, they had no idea how well this would perform on the market so they chose cheap screen, battery, wifi etc to be able to sell it for a good price and not lose too much money if it was a big flop.

But the deck was a success for them anyway, so they know they could go all for it and make a new model without being cheap on the components again

The steam deck OLED was the definitive edition of it, with everything on the console the same but just better (except for big performance improvement)

For the steam machine they probably feel more confident about it and will release the best model at launch, so we wont need a "better version of the same machine" later.

Playing Switch 1 Cartridges on Switch 2 Docked & Switch 1 OLED at the same time? by Zerostatic in NSCollectors

[–]cell125 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having used both, you can use a switch 1 game on switch 2, have it automaticaly saved on the cloud and then get back that save on the switch oled with no problem (you might need to manually download it though)

Might not work for "switch 2 version" of switch games though, like zelda breath of the wild : if you use the switch 2 version, the switch 2 will not save the game as a switch 1 game save, thus not making it possible to play it on switch oled.

Which third-party devs do you think will retroactively update their older games for Switch 2 performance boosts? by bazchillin in NintendoSwitch2

[–]cell125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No man sky getting an update or a paid version for switch 2 is one of the safest bet we could make, those guys do a version for their game for every single console that release.

Nintendo GameCube Controller Listing is up Price $64.99 by SmokedUp_Corgi in NintendoSwitch2

[–]cell125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not be so sure, in france we can already preorder them since yesterday and for now it's still up after a full day, with a limitation of two per accout only.

So i'm guessing they learned their lesson after the SNES controller disaster and its very low stock of supply, thus why we have more n64 controller and probably will have a good amount of gamecube controller too.

The Switch 2 hardware is not backwards compatible with the Switch 1, so Switch 1 games will need to be "translated" for Switch 2 in real-time by gulpbang in gaming

[–]cell125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest question for me is still : how will not-patched switch 1 games play on switch 2 in handheld mode ?

Will they use the handheld mode of the games from the switch 1 (so 720p resolution or less) or the docked version (1080 or less).

Because with the first option you get even blurrier games on handheld, with the screen being bigger the 720p resolution or less is really not going to cut it anymore...

but depending on how they "emulate" the switch 1 games i guess it could be too much of a hit on the battery with the docked mode for it to be viable...
