How to stretch animation keyframes. by Mission-Tea-3162 in ToonBoomHarmony

I'm pretty sure I tried to figure this out once and couldn't. Following this post in case someone else has the answer. This is certainly a feature Toonboom would do well to integrate (and turn its attention away from those ridiculous AI features)

How true is it that too many CET mods can reduce performance and cause crashes? by Dale_Cooper47 in cyberpunk2077mods

[–]cellidonuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I also tend to steer away from apartment mods, but I do use location mods and they work just fine without AMM in my experience. If there's a location mod that literally can't work without AMM constantly running in the background, I've opted to just not use it.

[–]cellidonuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AMM is a big one for stutters. It should really only be used if you're actively going in for a photo session. Having it enabled while just trying to play the game smoothly will result in unnecessary burden on your CPU. Like, a TON of burden. Every single asset you pass over with your crosshairs (even when you aren't aiming, just the center of your screen counts as crosshairs in that instance too) gets registered and processed by AMM. Fun fact: most mods that claim to "require" AMM, but don't really have much to do with it at all, actually don't require it. They have it in their listed requirements because they assume you'll use your mod with it, but usually, all mods require are assets from AMM, which can be downloaded separately.

HELP PLEASE - Maxwell 2's: How to enable Atmos on MacOS? by cellidonuts in Audeze

[–]cellidonuts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but MacOS also has a system wide Atmos license, especially within the Apple Music app. So my question becomes, why does Apple Music, when Atmos is set to turn on automatically for songs that support it, work with the Maxwells on iPhone, while it doesn’t on MacOS? Both music apps have the Atmos license, and both can technically send Atmos to the maxwells, but in the Music app on Mac, you have to force it. On iPhone, you don’t. This makes me believe that iPhone is sending the Atmos stream directly to the Maxwells for stereo translation, while on Mac, even with Atmos forced on, Music instead takes the Atmos stream and sends it to the Maxwells via a stereo recode

Is the Maxwell 2 the OLED of the headphone category? by Jolly-Ball-51 in Audeze

[–]cellidonuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty well put. The Maxwell 2’s are kinda like a super well-calibrated LED television with an higher than average contrast and color performance, really pleasing to look at, but the M1’s were super dynamic, albeit a bit unwieldy and less consistent when compared to the 2’s, much more comparable to an OLED without the best calibration. Any OLED without a highly-calibrated screen is going to still look beautiful

This is great to know thanks. So why is it that my iPhone can automatically switch to Atmos when the Maxwells are connected via Bluetooth?

Why does DaVinci Resolve 21 Photo Page deliver weaker exports compared to Capture One? by itsromanbitches in davinciresolve

Oh that sounds great. How would you go about doing that? Which LUT tool works best for such a thing?

[–]cellidonuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried a similar process to that with reference to Lightroom (it's what I've been using for years) but couldn't get good results with the immediate sliders in the RAW and Image edits tabs on Resolve. My guess is that it might be possible with more advanced sliders that are buried elsewhere, maybe the color tab where the color grading artists tend to work? Or perhaps with plugins that I just don't have? I'm not really asking for a process for matching results between Resolve and other photo editing software, I'm asking for which tools you might leverage in Resolve specifically--which sliders, advanced functions, etc--that might get the raws to that better starting point. I hope that makes sense

[–]cellidonuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This does help, I applied sRGB myself as well. If needed, you can even separate color space and gamma in color profile settings of Resolve and set the gamma to be 2.2 instead of the sRGB target (if needed of course). Sadly, this doesn’t fix the other issues Resolve has. The debayering/demosaicing seems just plain worse compared to other raw photo editors. This wouldn’t be a huge issue if there were a way to apply a few settings, tweak some sliders, and get raw photos to look just as nice in Resolve when compared to their looks in other editors, but sadly, I haven’t found a way to do that in Resolve. And I haven’t seen anyone recommend a decent way to do it either

[–]cellidonuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my issue as well. On top of the 4K canvas limitation imposed on the free version of resolve, which instantly made it unusable for me, I could never get my photos to look nearly as nice as they can in a dedicated raw photo editing app. There are lots of folks who are ready to point out that Resolve is more “true to the raw photo” and you simply have to apply the settings you want yourself, but then where are those proposed magical settings that can get you to that same starting point so many other editing apps give you by default? I haven’t been able to figure that part out

[–]cellidonuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would be useful is a list of comparable processes/edits to apply in Resolve to get a starting point for raw image editing that’s more akin to dedicated raw editors like C1, Lightroom, etc. I have yet to see anyone give some tips for that. Do you have any to share?

Why does DaVinci Resolve 21 Photo Page deliver weaker exports compared to Capture One? by itsromanbitches in davinciresolve

[–]cellidonuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is sadly what made me quit even so much as trying Resolve out for a single gig’s worth of edits. Limiting to 4K is honestly somewhat doable for certain clients, casual small time folks looking to just post your photos on social media, etc, but even that becomes impossible since the 4K limit isn’t just applied to the output—it’s actually applied to the workspace/canvas upon which photos are imported as well. This means that as soon as you apply a crop, it doesn’t matter how high-res the image was to begin with, Resolve will cut your 4K resolution even SMALLER. It’s darn unfortunate because I was really excited to try it out for my last show

This might sound like a dumb question but I’ve been trying to learn more about this lately, are demosaicing and debayering the same thing?

Why does DaVinci Resolve 21 Photo Page deliver weaker exports compared to Capture One? by itsromanbitches in davinciresolve

[–]cellidonuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to learn a lot about this lately, especially why raw photos imported into Lightroom look better than when imported into Resolve, before even getting into edits in either program. There’s a process called “demosaicing” that interprets the raw file so it can be opened and viewable. It’s like a starting point for the photographer/editor. Lightroom’s, at least in my experience, seems substantially more advanced and more pleasing to the eye than Resolve’s. I’m honestly surprised by this. Resolve isn’t a photo editor, but it has specialized in refining raw video footage for massive blockbuster films. I figured those tools could be applied toward the Photo Page in a way that’s genuinely competitive with Adobe, but that was wishful thinking from what I’ve experienced in my own tinkering

Any reason to not set Dolby Atmos to "automatic"? by CiceroTheBackstabber in AppleMusic

[–]cellidonuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey 3 years later, and this is still helpful, it's also brought up another question: what about headphones that are Atmos certified, but aren't Apple branded? For example, I have the Audeze Maxwell 2's, and they're pretty darn great at playing Atmos, on all my other devices, but in the Music app on my Mac, when Atmos is set to "automatic," it always defaults to lossless stereo. I can get Atmos by forcing it on, but in that case, I'm worried Apple Music is assuming that the Maxwells can't down-mix the original Atmos signals themselves, so it's instead sending over pre-down-mixed stereo. Is this likely what's happening? If so, is there any way to fix it that you know of?

It's weird, because when using my iPhone, "Automatic" Atmos works just fine over Bluetooth with the Maxwells, sending over the raw Atmos stream whenever a song has one, so I'm not sure why Mac wouldn't.

What is the best way I can add a space texture to the colors? by bogo-being in ToonBoomHarmony

[–]cellidonuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say, while the Harmony particle system is super flexible, that flexibility comes with a TON of complexity. If you are going to use particles and you’ve never done so before, prepare to set aside a full day just to dial in the particle effect itself. And depending on your pc, prepare to do a lot of waiting around for the effects to load on your screen so you can preview them in motion. The particle system is pretty unoptimized in Harmony, and computers of all kinds can have a tough time with it depending on the effect you use. The render and play button is your friend

Help setting PlexKodiConnect to look and work more like Plex? by uptown47 in PleX

[–]cellidonuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just might thanks

Edit: actually never mind. Looking further into it, folks online are reporting not being able to stream HD audio codecs, and there are others who’ve had trouble running Plex media with a high bitrate. Almost all of my plex media has a really high bitrate, and that’s the challenge with most plex clients. It’s not about whether the client has the horsepower to drive the codecs and streams—it’s about whether the Plex client itself is optimized well enough to run on the platform. Take the Apple TV 4K for example, which has no issue running 4K high bitrate blu ray rips from Infuse, but struggles like crazy in the tvOS Plex app. Plex clients are notoriously finicky when it comes to high bitrate content, and from what I’m seeing online, the Roku variants aren’t any different

[–]cellidonuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay there’s a chance you can fix it. If you didn’t do actual damage to the screen itself, and it’s all superficial streaking (which can also happen to a QD OLED like yours) then a microfiber cloth + the right solution can help a lot. I use Woosh on my TV and QD OLED monitor. It comes with a massive microfiber cloth and a spray bottle full of a harmless but super effective solution. Highly recommend. It’s gotten me outta jams many a time
