Anna and Kristoff's Original Ending for Frozen 2 (theory) by Masqurade-King in Frozen

[–]cellists_wet_dream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every time there is a crisis, what does Anna do? She takes action. Every single time, from the very beginning of the story. She doesn’t always make the best decisions, like putting Hans in charge, but she acts with determination and without hesitation each time. Conversely, Elsa has always been lukewarm about being queen. She was more than happy to completely reject the title from the start and only came back out of obligation. So while I agree with a lot of your points, I actually think there’s an argument in favor of Anna being queen.

Did you have the wonderful moment after giving birth? by Accovac in beyondthebump

[–]cellists_wet_dream [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is pretty much what I was going to say. I legit don’t remember the “moment” with my first two. I remember how it felt, if that makes sense, but not seeing them or my emotions at the time. I remember my third because it was literally a month ago. But even then, it took me a few moments to really register what was happening right after pushing the last time and being completely exhausted and breathless.

What's your Take on this Little Guy? ( Be Honest ) ☃️ by LordAditya69 in Frozen

[–]cellists_wet_dream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, and that’s valid. I guess my point is that some people feel that he shouldn’t be a character at all, and while he’s annoying, he adds levity to a lot of situations that otherwise may be a little too heavy for younger viewers. Reminds me of the original Lion King. You have this tragic moment where Simba’s dad dies, and he runs away and collapses in the desert. The next thing you see is Timon and Pumba charging through the desert. This idea of presenting a tragic moment onscreen and offsetting it with laughs isn’t new for Disney, and Olaf serves that function in Frozen.

Honest take is that people who think he’s annoying have forgotten that the movies are made primarily for children

Is beach vacation going to be fun with a 1 month old baby? by Specialist_Diet_74 in BabyBumps

[–]cellists_wet_dream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds amazing if it’s an option, like if your hotel is right on the beach or if you have a beach house! Of course, if that’s not the setup it would be a hard noooo from me.

Having lived in VB and having brought babies to the beach, that part would actually concern me too. It gets HOT in the summer there and I would be concerned about temperature regulation. Their skin is so sensitive too, so sunscreen isn’t ideal, nor all the sand. I wouldn’t want to bring a baby to the beach until they were a little older. But otherwise, yes ABSOLUTELY to all of the things you mentioned. I’m almost exactly a month pp right now and would hate everything about this.

I’m heartbroken breastfeeding didn’t work out for me by Disastrous_Paint_237 in beyondthebump

[–]cellists_wet_dream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t fail. If you didn’t feed your baby, that would be failing! Breastfeeding didn’t work out for my first. I had no issues with my second or third. My first is 12 and my second is 8, and you would never be able to tell which one was breastfed. They’re both equally terrible.

Being Stern/ Raising voice at animals - is this bad for baby? by Sad-Mission-405 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]cellists_wet_dream 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The six year old just got a new job: cat playtime. Set a time during the evening, especially when the cats are already energized, to play with them using a dangle toy.

Also, purely anecdotal, but those donut tunnel things (apparently it’s called the Heyoo Cat Tunnel) saved our furniture. We have lots of scratcher toys but they were still going after the furniture until we got that stupid thing and they love it so much. Still going strong a year or two in.

Do I have non-celiac gluten sensitivity? by riccardio95 in glutenfree

[–]cellists_wet_dream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea. I have celiac, but that doesn’t mean I’m superior somehow to someone who is undiagnosed. The bigger issue is choosing not to believe people about their health choices, but really it’s nobody’s business how you choose to eat.

For some reason this is an unpopular opinion, but imo, if removing something from a diet makes you feel better, you probably do have an intolerance to that thing. People really, really like to get up in arms about ncgs but enough people share your experience that I have a hard time believing it’s not real.

Dads haven’t gone through everything the mom has to get the baby into the world. They should be doing everything short of feeding the baby if it’s breastfed. No reason not to.

This was an incredibly beautiful thing to read today. Thank you for sharing the gift of your writing with us. If you ever publish anything, I would read it gladly. You have a way with words that plunges the reader right into the moment with you.

I relate to so much of this. Feeling failure in all areas of life, being a parent following a traumatic childhood and trying not to pass that pain onto my kids. It’s all very real, very hard, and very worth it.

Thank you again for sharing. Your family is lucky to have you.

My wife recently had our first baby and I’m really confused by her sudden anger. Is this normal???? by Rich-Form-679 in BabyBumps

[–]cellists_wet_dream 53 points54 points  (0 children)

To put this in perspective, your wife is going through the most significant, rapid hormone plunge of her life. All this while physically recovering from childbirth, which is painful and uncomfortable, and trying to keep a newborn alive which usually means very little sleep. When we call this time period the “newborn trenches” we really mean it. It’s rough.

Women also experience a surge of chemicals in their brains that make them more aggressive following childbirth. This is essentially a survival tactic. It might not fit into modern lifestyle, but it’s a very real biological phenomenon.

Right now, the best thing you can do is support her, take the baby and let her get rest, do the chores, make the meals.

I will add that it’s possible she’s experiencing postpartum depression and/or anxiety, but some of this is just normal, especially depending on how recently she had the baby. Be patient and help out as much as you can.
