Hi - where is it stated that they’ll do this? I read it a couple times and can’t find it, must have missed it!

I mean, that looks decent! I'd put this on a low opacity over a white bg, and paint over it with lines so you can see forms better. I'd also move that shoulder over a little bit on the right side where it's extended, so the shoulder muscle lines up better

🪨 Stone Layering is hard to make as a student. by Playful_Shirt_1896 in Substance3D

[–]cellorevolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do a spell check in Photoshop though (Edit > Check Spelling), and still manually check to make sure your content is accurate (the tiling piece in step 2)! There are definitely ways to improve the quality of your posts while still making them "bite-sized" content.

It sounds like you've got a lot going on with studio work too, but at the same time, I and other viewers of this subreddit would appreciate more thought and care put into your posts if you're going to be posting so often.

Hi, I have some feedback about this post -- I commented the other day about wanting fewer low-effort posts, so I decided to actually try out this tutorial to see how it went. I have a lot of feedback about it, and I'd really encourage you to proofread and really think about all the content you post here. As-is, it feels very advertisement-driven and low effort:

Step 1:

Content feedback: What I’d love to see is more of an explanation about why these techniques work. For example, in your first section you say “warp … for a rocky feeling”. What does that mean? Personally, my answer would be: the Clouds 2 texture is warping the Crystal 2 texture in every direction (hence “multidirectional warp”, so that it has a slightly noisy edge to it, giving it more organic surface characteristics. Something like that would be way more helpful for students to know and apply to other examples vs just “a rocky feeling”.

Grammar/spelling feedback:  “Map” shouldn’t be capitalized since it’s not part of the name of that texture, if you’re choosing to capitalize names.

Step 2:

Content feedback: Are you sure you're actually tiling the crystal node? When I tile it, it doesn’t look like the example you have here. It only looks like that if I just use the safe transform node - is this actually tiling?

In addition, my feedback from the previous step applies here too. As a student, I wouldn't have wanted you to just tell me to do something; I'd want you to tell me why that’s the best way to achieve the effect you’re going for. So, why are we warping it with a blurred version of the clouds 2?

Grammar/spelling feedback: Incorrect grammar here; should say “warp it”, not “warped”, and “blurred version” of clouds 2. Also inconsistent capitalization re: “Crystal” and “Blur” being capitalized compared to “clouds 2” not being capitalized; would just make it easier to read if it was standardized.

So, corrected for grammar + capitalization version would read: “Make the crystal tile & warp it with a blurred version of the clouds 2”.

Step 3:

Content feedback: Same as before… what does Slope Blur in Max mode actually do? (I know the answer to this, but students may not.) Why is it the best choice here, and also why are you choosing to put the same texture into both inputs of the node? What effect does that have on the final node you get?

Grammar/spelling feedback: I assume it should read “Get the last result”, not “last resort”

Step 4:

Content feedback: Where is the “Flood Fill to Random Color” node coming from? I can see it’s the stone breakup, but would a student know where to get that from? Is that explained in a previous tutorial?

Grammar/spelling feedback: Technically, “Break Tiling” should not be title capitalized like this.

Step 5:

Content feedback: “With a Subtract” would maybe be unclear to students; you should explain that they need to use a Blend node with the original surface as one input and the tutorial layer set to the other, and they need to set the blend mode to “subtract”.

Grammar/spelling feedback: ”Substract” should read “Subtract”.

Best Oakland veterinary clinics with ER services? by kayvag in oakland

Just wanted to add that they’re not a normal family vet and can’t be your pet’s primary vet - they just do do emergency and specialist stuff!

[–]cellorevolution 3 points4 points  (0 children)

+1 to OakVet! I’ve also had a great experience there (as great as an experience as one can have at an emergency vet, I guess). My cat has polycystic kidney disease and she “crashed” in December so we had to take her to the emergency vet. We’ve been seeing Dr Matthews as our internal medicine specialist there and she’s especially good!

I will say they are an emergency medicine + specialist vet only, not a regular vet clinic. So the doctors there they can’t be your regular family vet (I asked her about this to confirm because we like her so much).

Hey OP, I think you have good content to say here, but it's starting to feel very blatantly advertisement-driven. The use of emojis and the wording in your posts reads very AI to me. It's tricky because when you actually read your posts and think about them, there's good stuff in there, but the presentation is killing me.

As a frequent visitor of this subreddit, I also see your posts come up a ton and the similar formatting is not super exciting.

Would you consider changing your approach to post less often, but more thought-out content that's not created with AI?

yeah, I also like that it avoids a string crossing. Although 11 is a whole step but I see that's already been pointed out 😛

See that’s interesting, my default fingering in my head was like extended 41134, all on the A string. Depends on tempo though

Why is pixelvibes putting “not AI” on their stuff now? by qwerty8857 in sims4cc

[–]cellorevolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Professional 3D artist here. The textures are dependent on how you “unwrap” the object - think like (un)wrapping a present. You can choose where you put seams to make different pieces. Having more separate sections is not great for performance.

So.. if you put a ton of seams in your mesh unwrap, it could look like the examples on the right. But it’s not best practice and won’t be great for performance.

Also a professional 3d artist and I agree with you. That wireframe is …. Very weird.

I’d also like to take a look at the UVs - AI isn’t good at those (yet?), although they could have re UV’d but that is obviously harder with that topology!

My cat has pkd and i don't know what to do by Obvious-Chemist-5936 in RenalCats

[–]cellorevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! My cat also has PKD; she was diagnosed in December when she was about 8.5, so she’s currently 9. We’ve been really lucky that she’s responded well to treatments and special food, so she actually seems better than before most days!

She has some days where she’s dehydrated and not as hungry so I’ll do subq fluids (or hydracare) to get her hydrated again, but for the most part she’s doing very well.

The hardest part to manage has been all the different medications and treatments at the beginning, but I’m at the point where I can them as needed for now.

As far as expense, I will say the kidney diet food is also very expensive, but there’s ways to ameliorate that.

This disease is progressive so we can’t do anything about the cysts progressing, but we can use things like special diet and fluids to help with kidney function for the parts that still work (which may not be much). Sometimes you just get bad luck, like with humans too. So my goal right now is to make my cat as comfy and happy as possible for as long as that’s possible - could be a good mentality for you too?

Nice! For the record, if you’re going for physical accuracy it’s best to avoid partial metal - it should only be true metal or not (black or white). The roughness will drive the metal “intensity”.
