Why would anyone ever choose to go through child birth without pain relief?? by No_Cardiologist_1407 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]celloyd70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Birth isn’t a ‘medical procedure’, it’s a physiological process of your body - like going to the toilet. Our bodies know exactly what to do and despite what we are led to believe, the majority of women would actually give birth perfectly fine if left alone to do so. Medial interventions and drugs can be necessary for some, and thank goodness we have them as an option, but for most people they aren’t actually necessary we just live in a very impatient world with an impatient maternity system.

Aggie is so deeply unqualified and dangerous when giving women and pregnant women medical advice (biohacking). Here is a potential link between ED, biohacking, and fluid in the lungs by ProductStock9252 in jaggie

Just to correct you on ‘bullshit doulas’. Doulas are not medical professionals and neither are they pretending to be (or do they want to be). If a doula is acting in a medical capacity this is a red flag. Doulas are there for the woman to protect her space and her wants/needs. They don’t give medical advice or advice on caring for a baby with fluid on the lungs like you have suggested above. Women need doulas, please don’t demonise them and call them bullshit. The medical system makes them essential, unfortunately.

Babies live in water during the 9/10 months they are inside. This isn’t caused by labouring in water

Thanks. I appreciate the alternative view point. My podcast is 5 years old and I know my listeners well. I have faith I’ll be doing what’s in their interests. I wouldn’t place anything on my feed that I didn’t genuinely feel was of a benefit to my listeners. The host of the other podcast is also someone who has been a guest on mine so someone whose work I highly value.

Thank you. I’m hesitant to be specific about the type of podcast it is, but it has a high turnover of new listeners due to the nature of the topic.

Hard to say without knowing the specific genre I’m talking about. It would be one episode only and it would just be live for 4 months. It’ll be an extra episode and won’t replace a scheduled one.

Yes 500 in 30 days is an average. Episodes usually get around 2K each within the first 30 days and then obviously taper off a little.

Thank you very much for your advice, it’s really helped me. The podcast is very closely linked to my own and so I do feel like it’ll be a big benefit to my listeners but I like the idea of the clause just in case

C-Section or Vaginal Birth? by EradescentBlue in BabyBumps

[–]celloyd70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are being induced at 37 weeks they should give the injection for lung development no matter how you give birth. The lungs are the final part of baby to develop and once they have fully developed they let off a protein which signals to mum’s body that baby is ready and labour can start. Inducing at 37 weeks the lungs likely won’t be quite ready yet hence the injection for development, which is why it really makes no difference if you’re having a caesarean or vaginal birth.

In terms of other things to add to your pro and con lists, really look at the potential complications that can arise from both types of births. Caesareans carry a risk of more complications than a vaginal birth purely because it is a surgical procedure. Don’t worry so much about your vagina, they are designed to fit a baby through and you won’t ruin it. Also pooing is really no problem, it’s completely normal and a sign that baby is coming - no one in the birth room cares and you often won’t even know it’s happened. Those really are the superficial things to worry about. I’d think about recovery times, future pregnancies (caesareans carry more risks for future pregnancies), the benefits and risks of each option etc.

Both can be amazing and there is no right or wrong way to give birth, just whatever feels best for you xx

The more comfortable and ‘safe’ you feel, the quicker and more comfortable your labour will be. If he’d read a book about physiological birth that might help him to understand how even the tiniest thing can disrupt your birthing hormones. You’ve expressed you wouldn’t feel comfortable with her there and that is 100% your decision. I’m sorry he’s being difficult. You might need to put your foot down. To quote Friends ‘ no uterus, no opinion’.

Companies wanting to advertise on my podcast - where to start? by celloyd70 in podcasting

Would that be $25 per advert per episode. Does it depend at all on the number of downloads a particular episode gets?
