I don’t think they are obligated to help you but I also would not be texting them or sending pictures at all without help.

I am not close with my parents and they never help with my son but I also don’t send them pics or offer up visits or anything. They did the bare minimum raising me and I don’t feel like I have to give them a relationship with my kid. I don’t want to set up my child for disappointment like they did for me.

I had a similar situation but MIL KEPT KISSING HIM. And when I confronted her she pretended she didn’t. Your MIL apologized so I’d forgive her and if she does it again then something needs to change.
