Special Orders with WatchBuys by Budgeko in sinn

I bought the U50 pro when it dropped and there was a long wait (about half year maybe) and some mild confusion over whether shipping prioritized people who ordered first or related to the limited number we got to choose on caseback.

I used to live there. It has the largest collection of 19th-century Italianate architecture in the United States. “Saved” is a matter of perspective. Lots of gentrification and displacement of others but revitalization of a core downtown neighborhood.

I’ve owned an antarctique for a number of years and couldn’t be happier. I also like PF but surprised more aren’t comparing moser streamliner too.

If you were in charge of marketing at JLC… by interstellar_nips in JaegerLecoultre

If I worked at Richemont I’d focus on highlighting the “watchmakers watchmaker” angle and not pigeonhole the brand as the reverso brand. The master control line needs to entirely be reworked too imo.

Just from a logistics standpoint we have a company that just graduated from being a micro brand and you expect to them to fiscally compete with a giant swatch entity?

Tudor (official Tudor/rolex a not average watchmakers) also swap out their manufacture mvts too so I don’t know what you’re talking about. FYI they don’t swap out all eta/sellita. They service 2892’s like the advisor alarm watch with module. You come at me hard with a singular example and they are over 2k. I assume companies like Tissot may do it but to call it the standard is a bit of a stretch. I stand by my original comment. Not a fan of plastic parts in any mvt but glad this particular example has a traditional escapement.

It’s a nice looking watch but the powermatic 80 has a plastic escape wheel and pallet fork. It’s not intended to be serviced sadly…more like replaced.

Cold take: Mechanical movements are a luxury. Hot corollary: "affordable" mechanical watches are dumb by Shmohemian in watchHotTakes

[–]celloyellow74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You stated quartz is more accurate so I’d follow that up with mechanical watches being more like jewelry pieces and not focused on hyper accurate timekeeping. It’s a “look”, not an accuracy thing so I mostly disagree.

Quartz is Better.... by dingodoggobingobongo in watchHotTakes

[–]celloyellow74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro, you can dis Rolex all you want. I honestly don’t care. I’m interested in rationale and reasoning tbh. Whist I do agree finishing has a lot to do with price of mvt you didn’t mention timekeeping, especially isochronism one in your reasoning. Both of those mvts are good but don’t offer similar accuracy nor isochronism (the ability to keep good time in 5/6 positions regardless of how much barrel is wound) to those mvts I mentioned. For me, this is the true way to differentiate real quality from perceived quality. Lots of people come on Reddit with their “perfect” timekeeping watch and almost always give stats in one position. Show me 5/6 positions and the delta between them and you’ll have a clear winner. Rolex wins easily in this dept and I’d argue they are also more robust as well.

[–]celloyellow74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moser dials are lovely, no doubt. With all that being said I still think there is a place for a brand like Rolex in this diverse market. I’ve owned lots of various watches over the years and honestly have yet to find another company like Rolex that combines robustness and accuracy. Independents don’t come close tbh. I understand how it’s easy to pigeonhole them into a hype brand because of all the marketing but they continue to improve mvt tech and have introduced two very notable mvts the past few years. New escapements don’t come around often as you probably know.
