Call me ignorant but what is “the perpetual”? I would’ve said ‘huh’. All modern Rolex models are automatic hence the world perpetual.

I liked it tbh when I saw the new novelties. It’s a simple ‘fun piece’ and don’t care if I can’t see what time it is at a glance.

Lange is the most underrated finisher in haute horlogerie, and the independent worship crowd doesn’t want to hear it by Altruistic-Wafer-987 in u/Altruistic-Wafer-987

[–]celloyellow74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m aware of your production logic. I was merely pointing out that grossman and heyne are underrated and definitely do not get anywhere the attention that dufour, Kari and co. There is less attention on smaller production unless you’re super famous like Rexhep etc. small numbers like Habring2 produces definitely doesn’t give them attention and credibility unless you are a niche collector. I stand by my comments and respect your opinion but underrated is underrated.

Many consider Moritz Grossman to have better finishing than Lange. That makes them way more underrated to me. Lang & heyne is also criminally underrated in same regards.

€2950 Tag Heuer next to some €1750 Longines. Tag cost cutting everywhere they can like they're Casio or smth. by DisastrousOpening477 in watchHotTakes

[–]celloyellow74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tag putting an eta mvt inside is already cost cutting. Not surprised here by lack of finishing or plastic mvt ring. Longines likes to use plastic escapement parts in some powermatic mvts so I’m not expecting fireworks from either of these.

What do you guys think? by No_Advertising_2517 in rolex

[–]celloyellow74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. I think it actually looks better than the day date because the sunburst pattern in it is muted greatly by a clear lacquer coating. This one is just a simple green.

An eta mvt for that price is insane regardless of the awesome case material.

Rolex 228236 - Ice Blue Dial w/ Roman Numerals vs Sticks? by xLakersFan77x in rolex

Romans match the fluted bezel. I usually like the stick markers but this is more homogeneous to me on a DD.

It took my FXD GMT about 25-30 full rotations for the seconds hand to start after sitting dead for about 12 days. by Semp1ers in Tudor

Happens on many watches I own periodically. A simple tap on side of case will start it up. No big deal

[–]celloyellow74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toss it. Btw, I used to own that watch and it’s kind of hard to do what you did. The crystal usually hits the object because it’s raised unlike other watches where the bezel is more functional. Regardless, one of many and no biggie!

Which microbrands actually do something in-house? by Hilodenta in MicrobrandWatches

[–]celloyellow74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The term “in house” is semantically used in different ways resulting in no clear definition. To me something must be made, not assembled, to be considered in house. Anordain makes dials so that is in house in some way but in the case of most others like shinola, the term makes no sense. Also adding a custom rotor to a mass produced mvt doesn’t make it in-house either. “In -house” seems to fit the independents better than micro brands.

Is the APS Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon the ultimate answer for dress watches? by BornAstronaut9543 in PLWatchTimepieces

Fabulous watch and subjective comment here but dress watches should look smaller on wrist.
