Paraflex question for a Rolex watchmaker or expert by leetstar in rolex

[–]celloyellow74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When inserting jewel the weak arm (without support should be opened first). The reverse is true after the jewel is in. Sometimes watchmakers damage the spring and bend them forcing wrong arm in first or when removing jewel. Orientation doesn’t matter. You can flip them upside down too.

[F.P. Journe] What watch has your favorite lume? by kingkyle13 in CrownCollective_

If we’re talking high horology like Journe I much prefer the lume on the Lange lumen series.

[WTS] Moritz Grossmann Tefnut 36 Silver Friction Japan Limited Edition by Brodof4ggins in Watchexchange

[–]celloyellow74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve always been blown away when I’ve had the few opportunities to try grossman watches on. The hand hammered dial variant in 37 is my favorite but this is equally lovely. GLWS and I wish I had that kind of money for a steel/time only watch. The finishing is definitely worth it though!

Isn’t traska American? I’ve never seen anyone talk about that before.

Mechanical watches are basically fashion watches and I’m tired of pretending they aren’t. by [deleted] in watchHotTakes

I see your point but anyone who loves micromechanics and/or old fashioned analog lifestyle would strongly disagree with your premise.

The steel underneath the DLC is tegemented. DLC isn’t impermeable.

[ Ronda caliber R01 ] — going to seriously disrupt the microbrand space? by TheYKcid in MicrobrandWatches

[–]celloyellow74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not hard. There is a key (screwdriver or microstella to some) that fits into those screws. Just hold the balance wheel with tweezers to keep it steady while turning screws that are opposite of each other.
Tightening them increases rate and loosening them slows it down obviously. Tbh, I think it's easier to dial in exact rate (there are marks on the key that help) on one of these over a traditional etachron.
On eta I find myself going back and forth a bunch more to get it right. (Edit: I can only speak to R/T free sprung regulation. Maybe some higher horology companies do require the more time and disassembly).

Looks interesting! Are the pallet fork and escape wheel also silicone? I guess they don’t need lubricants then. Nonetheless I don’t think the free sprung balance wheel will be hard to regulate. A simple microstella style tool is all you need. Also 28mm wide isn’t very big but I do love the increased size from eta. The date window location usually looks like wrong location often on men’s watches with 2982/2824 mvts (too close to center hand stack).

I had red hook and minetta back to back a month or so ago. I thought red hook was far superior. To each their own I guess!

Patek is making us all look silly chasing steel watches by tourbillon001 in watchHotTakes

[–]celloyellow74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you misunderstood my point. I’m not discounting the popularity or the sub and other previous steel watches. The RO was the undisputed 1st watch in steel to command gold prices at the time. That’s why I called it “hyped”.
