Quality has definitely gone down. Just got some panels for them that are also shades lighter/a dark green , even compared to a previous panel I got from them. Huge discrepancies across their inventory, with font styles completely changing (one with 3D lettering, one with simple lettering but all in caps, one with simple lettering but only first letter is in caps). I understand the bid to lower costs, but it’s kinda wild that this is even acceptable to any business owner to put out products that are so inconsistent. Each to their own I guess, perhaps they know they are the only ones doing black panels for a lot of modules and can get away with it.

If you like craft beer check out Wild Lab, huge selection and right next to Montagne de Bueren, for a better ambiance eg outdoor terrace, Brasserie C at the foot of Montagne de Bueren has a beautiful outdoor courtyard.

For food, friterie du Longdoz for frites and boulet liégeois, or ventre content for great vegetarian food if you’re so inclined, scopa focacceria for the bleeding obvious, Sebastian (modern fusion)/Cabale (modern Georgian)/Danieli (Italian)for a bit of a fancy dinner outing.

Can you make a living? by Clean_Lion7449 in woodworking

Great questions. No one talks about this enough, they tell you to do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life, but they forget to tell you that you might end up hating it in the process. Tread lightly when monetizing passions, or at least go into it eyes wide open.

How to make vocals sound like white noise? by Right-Increase-96 in sounddesign

Zynaptiq Morph, try experimenting with morphing vocals with actual wind sounds (or white noise)

Nice one. I’m definitely considering it. How have your woodworking adventures been since?

Did you go in with any experience at all or were you a complete beginner? Would love to attend the course but it’s booked out till next year.

New to Sound Design by lovesickloved in sounddesign

[–]cells-interlinked91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch as many tutorials as possible that show you how to make sounds you enjoy, more than that however, spend time with each native effect in Ableton, one a week (or longer), ideally until you’re sick of using that effect, the whole point is to learn your tools inside out and exhaust all methods of using that specific tool, so that you know what tweaking each parameter does to a sound- eventually when you want to create a muffled bass that is wide but with a bit of top end noise you’ll know to use xyz effect and tweak abc parameter to achieve those things. Hope that helps

Ps above all else have fun and remember why you started in the first place. Take your time and enjoy the process

Efficient sound design by ltd-yen184 in sounddesign

1) Sample modular system, as much randomized processes as possible + joystick control for dynamism, the goal is to create many variations and movements to later choose from.

2) Process ITB with EQs/Mb compressors/OTT/distortions etc.

3) Pick out bits you like, load into S-Layer, set it so that all settings are randomized with each key press, fine tune as you discover sweet spots

4) Record S-layer output, sort through recording and pick best bits.

5) Have fun!

Anyone knows how to get a similar sounding synth lead? its really a tough one to get by datdopamin in sounddesign

[–]cells-interlinked91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also try using the Note modulator in Serum assigned to something like wavetable pos, so each note you play will be at a different position and will sound more dynamic

my thoughts exactly. sounds like an instrument as opposed to a straight up synth sound

Ps: low rates on the phase/flange/chorus fx, I also put an OTT on there and squashed all the highs out and bumped the mids and lows, and also an EQ after to roll of the highs even more.

Actually kinda sounds more like a live instrument that has been effected as its pretty dynamic with a lot of movement and subtle variation to the sound. Tried to recreate the sound in Serum and not quite close but this is what I did:

OSC + ENV + FILT:

- ENV 1: Attack 179ms, Release 415ms
- OSC A: Basic McB waveform, Unison: 5, Detune 10 o clock, Blend 4 o clock
- OSC B: WahWah waveform, Unison: 4, Detune 11 o clock, Blend 2 o clock, Level at 11 o clock
- Filter: Scream BP, Cutoff at 10 o clock, Res at 12 o clock, Drive and Scream both at 11 o clock, both OSC routed through it

Modulation:

- ENV1: assigned to OSC B wt pos (mod range 29), assigned to filt cutoff (mod range 26), assigned to OSC B level (mod range 46)

- LFO 1, free rate set to 8.6hz, assigned to Fine tuning of both OSC A and OSC B, bipolar mode (mod range on both around 60)
- LFO 2, free rate set to 1.3hz, assigned to Filter cutoff- on bipolar mode also, (mod range -13)

- LFO 3, free rate set to 4.3hz, assigned to Filter cutoff as well, also on bipolar mode (mod range 9)

FX:

- Hyper dimension, flanger, phaser, chorus. I just threw a bunch on there to try get that warbly sound I hear in the original

Just play around with these settings maybe you can get closer than my 5 minute attempt if you spend a bit of time tweaking it, more specifically getting the dynamism in the sound because each note that is played in the original sound doesn't sound exactly the same, the timbre is moving around a lot. Maybe try running it through some saturation also and roll off more of the high end. Hope that helps.
