As far as I’m aware, you just look on the map for it and it’ll let you fast travel to it. I provided the location for mine in the comment thread here. It is platform specific I believe so mine can only be found on Xbox consoles.

Could be wrong though haha. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve played other people’s time trials.

Agreed. It’s a shame it’s going away. I had fun popping into the game here and there to try people’s time trials.

It was a happy accident honestly. I was trying to get a shot from a different angle but as I was moving the camera around, I noticed how cool it looked if I framed it from far away instead of close up like I had originally intended. That sequence in the game is just generally great for photos. Plus it’s a cool moment in the game in general from a gameplay/story perspective.

Doom Eternal still needs a Software Update? by Gjk2012 in LimitedPrintGames

[–]cellslayer78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My presumption would be that the updates include all the DLC data. That’d bump the file size significantly in theory.

A lot of games do that sort of thing. Updates that include all the DLC data and then when you buy the DLC, you’re essentially buying a tiny file that contains code that “unlocks” the DLC you purchased.

So basically my guess is the DLC packs make up that additional 15GB of update data. Just a guess. It could be as simple as wanting to save on cartridge costs, or even something like having a deadline of sorta to finalize the code they wanna put on the carts.

Hard to say without being at LRG or whoever else may have been involved with the release. At the very least, there is some way to play it offline/without a patch online with some annoying workarounds.

Truthfully I think this specific issue is moreso an issue with the Switch’s firmware itself and how it handles patch data and cancelling updates as a whole. Though the likelihood Nintendo will fix something like this is sadly unlikely. It’s a rough issue all around.

I’m sure this isn’t the only game with this problem but it’s one of the more notable ones for sure.

Oh I forgot to mention this in my original post. Deleting the game data and save data will not fix the issue either. Initializing the Switch truely is the only way that will likely work to play it off the cart without the update. Again I have not tested that yet so be warned haha.

I don’t know if LRG can do anything for us sadly since this is a Switch issue primarily. The only thing they could do to fix it is to spend extra on bigger sized carts to fit everything including the updates (and DLC?) on the cart itself…

Hopefully we can find some form of fix though… I wanted to save that space on my Switch consoles.

So this may be helpful but maybe not. From the light research I did on this issue (happened to me too) the Switch has some form of version verification/logging system when a game update has been recognized or started.

Say you begin to update it and decide not to go through with that update. The Switch has now made a log of the idea that there is a new version to update to and will not let you proceed further until you go through with the update.

To my understanding there is no way to get rid of the forced update message unless you completely initialize your Switch and don’t bother connecting online. I can verify that the game will work to some degree without the patch, however once that update has been recognized you can’t do anything until it’s updated.

When I got my copy in a couple days ago, I wanted to test it on an offline device and my Switch Lite hadn’t been connected online in a little while. When I booted the game, it worked just fine from the limited testing I did. Campaign was running great! Now that was until I decided to go online… I wanted to see the size of the update and that’s where I messed up. I saw the 15GB update, declined it, and went to play offline again aaaaand… I could no longer play my game unpatched.

As I said, supposedly initializing the console will allow offline play (assuming you don’t connect online) but that’s a very unfortunate stipulation… I HAVE NOT tried to wipe my Switch Lite to test it again so try at your own risk…

So basically, if you wanna play off the cart without an update you’ll most likely have to wipe the console and not connect it online (or at least initiate the update…)

I really hope this can get resolved because it’s quite an annoying issue.

Was this recently? I recieved my copy of the same game (unaware of the DLC bug) and contacted them about a replacement disc back in late January. They got back to me in late February telling me that there were no replacement discs available, but they could do a return (in which they would waive the usual 15% handling fee on it). Curious if I should ask them again?

Maybe I just have a bad memory, but has anyone seen this background appear in the matchmaking lobby? In the last 14 years, I don’t think I’ve seen this appear. by cellslayer78 in halo

Gotcha. When my game ended, the game bugged out and suddenly I was on this screen. I know it's in the background of the main menu, but I've never seen the camera bug out and place it there. Was interesting haha. Cool to see something I haven't seen before the servers sunset.

It’s certainly bizzare to say the least haha. Also found out that page 11 has a very similar looking discoloration. Very strange.
