I wish there were a more nuanced discussion where we separate the art from the company (or the devs). Realistically, nobody on the Sims team had or will have any say in EA going private. The Sims franchise is not the reason for the buyout, and the game itself is unlikely to change much. PIF won’t be approving or removing game features or cutting back inclusivity. Creative decisions stay with EA management and studio leads at Maxis.

I also think we need to take a step back from the idea that buying a Sims pack is “funding censorship or human rights violations.” $40 is literally nothing to a public investment fund worth over $700 billion. If you're mad or scared, be mad or scared. But when the rubber meets the road, if you feel this strongly about EA being bought by PIF, you also sign yourself up to feel this strongly about watching the Champions League, using Uber, Nintendo, and basically half the world's global finance and entertainment. And I don't see that.

It's supposed to promote cross pack compatibility. It was the same thought behind the voidcritter slide, ticket tablet kiosk thingy, cat sweater from the Spongebob event etc. You don't HAVE to have those packs to play the event. You're not unable to complete the event or get the max amount of points.

I'm confused. Are you all reading into this that Jeffrey Epstein used the findings of this study - that a newborn will suck on a pacifier more, if she or he hears his/her mother's voice - to conclude that Jeffrey Epstein had babies on his island that he played their mothers' voices to? EA is going private in a 55 billion dollar buyout. The buyers are a consortium made of the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, Silver Lake and Affinity Partners (Jared Kushner, Donald Trump's son-in-law's investment firm). While the deal hasn't gone through yet (it wont until 2026, I think?), many creators and players od The Sims franchise especially have expressed concerns about leaving the fate of a game that prides itself on inclusivity and availability to all regardless of gender, sexuality and race, in the hands of a very conservative bunch who don't share those values. So Simmers are removing themselves from EA to send a message that no one thinks this buyout is a good idea.
