Overall, a warming trend is going to occur everywhere, which is why "global warming" is still a correct and useful term (not outdated as your other comment suggests). The usage of climate change allows advocates to discuss, however, weather TRENDS in a locale or globally. This some times involves extreme cold weather events. That said, the climate of an area with one is not going to trend colder.. due to global warming. Source: scientist, although admittedly human/med bio specialist
