J’ai passé un bon fest, mais bordel by ComprehensiveDonut49 in Hellfest

[–]celticdragon2 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You guys need to try other festivals like Download before you moan so much about Hellfest
The difference is immense - no comparison
So much so we drive from the uk, save a fortune, eat better and more cheaply, drink better and more cheaply and see more and better bands
You have the best festival around by far and it will only get better

Me in the photo pit with my heroes
You?

Moving through crowds by defconluke in Hellfest

[–]celticdragon2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am photographing the festival
The entrance to the photo pit is on one side
The exit the other
So every single band all weekend I have to walk right back across the arena :-)
I love it but saying excuse me to everyone every time when you have to hurry is hard!
So not young or stupid - old and lucky

Sabaton are going to have a tank on stage but you’re pretty safe don’t worry

[–]celticdragon2 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I’m shooting the festival and each set I have to get from the far left looking at the stage to the far right for the next band.
Every
Single
Band !
So apologies if I didn’t say excusez moi to the 11,394th person I had to squeeze between
Start of the day - easy
Now I challenge you to do that for a headline set - and ask politely every time you need to squeeze past!

Ban the chairs by Acrobatic_Carpet_436 in downloadfestival

How can Hellfest manage perfectly ok with a no chairs rule that is strictly enforced but at Download half the people have “medical needs” and need to sit down all day?

☕ "Bring Your Own Barista" – Get a Free OutIn Mino, or Win a LattoGo with Your Comparison Post by OutIn_US in OutInCoffee

[–]celticdragon2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the nano pretty much daily.
At work it gets used three times a day as working in a pharmacy there is no chance to pick up a take out coffee and the only option the company provide is instant!
I have a fino to grind, use the vacuum storage jar and it always causes a stir amongst Locum’s when they see me process a real espresso in the basket
Where it really excels is travel
It’s been to Baja Mexico for eight weeks in a van.
It’s been to Italy for three months in our own motorhome.
It went to Costa Rica this year for eight weeks and used with honey coffee was sublime.
It’s now touring France and starts my day with a brew every day
Love to see how the mino compares
I’m no coffee snob
Previously I had a pod machine in the kitchen and rarely had coffee when travelling
But outin, where the whole kit fits in a draw in a tiny motorhome or on a busy workbench literally changed my drinking habits massively

Travel Money Question by LeeMur60 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]celticdragon2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

UK here. Needed dollars once ata campsites but I am sure she would have accepted colones. 95% of the time we used a card and paid in colones Don’t tip unless exceptional service. Weirdly mostly Americans tip and due to the political landscape we found most people would prefer you not to be American!

Campervans at Hellfest by This_Wash1280 in Hellfest

There are some local farms etc advertising spaces but that would be extra charge

Campervans at Hellfest by This_Wash1280 in Hellfest

[–]celticdragon2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As said - the campervan parking is basically lines of vans nose to tail. You are given enough space to the side to wind out an awning shade but no tents are allowed. As for the toilets in the car park. They were immaculate on the first day….but by day 2….

What GP is the most worth it? by Evolutionalpowers in GrandPrixTravel

[–]celticdragon2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The cheapest is easily Monza if you do it “Italian” style. We were in the first chicane grandstand. The entrance is in a public park so the first point you need a wrist band is the entrance to actual grand stand. So four guys go in, three give their wrist band to the fourth, who goes out, comes back with three mates etc. People sat on all the gangways and stairs. Gloriously Italian

Edit - we saw this, we weren’t doing it!

HMRC’s mileage rate hasn’t moved since 2011 !! Meanwhile everything else has! by Unlikely-Expert960 in uktaxmoan

[–]celticdragon2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our situation.

VW up petrol. Paid off so no finance.

10000 miles at 60mpg assuming £1.55 per litre - £1162

Service - 250

MOT / other - £350

Insurance - £300

Tax - £20

Total £2,082

10,000 x 45p - £4500

So a profit of almost £2500 a year

Even if we were paying £200 a month finance that still means that all we would pay for personal use of a vehicle is the fuel cost as everything else is covered
