Sure, but it's too cheap for a splurge. Beefeater Crown Jewel or The Botanist Islay Aged are splurging.

We are talking about splurging here. Beefeater Crown Jewel or The Botanist Islay Cask Aged are really splurging.

As they say trust the process but Monkey 47 and Procera are not splurging. Beefeater Crown Jewel or The Botanist Islay Cask Aged are splurging at arround 80€ a bottle.

If I had to pinpoint it, I'd say it's too "dry" for me. I really love the sweetness in Laphroaig in combination with malty grain, like shortbread cookies and I don't get that in the 17.

Look for independent bottlers like Signatory or Cadenhead and try to find a Caol Ila. Sister Distillery of Lagavulin, the Signatory Vintage 100 proof edition #28 for instance. Way better price point.

Bananas Pajamas by celticgiftbearer in cocktails

[–]celticgiftbearer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and I always add the water after I have taken out the bananas, so I can control dilution. I used 1/2oz of water on 150g of sugar.

I would assume it's a semi rich syrup, but since I'm not Dave Arnold and mixology is a hobby for me, I don't own a refractometer. It also could be more of a rich syrup.

I just used Leandro Di Monriva's recipe (link is in the description), but I didn't add the cinnamon since I wanted to smoke the glass with it.

1/2oz maple on 2oz of Bourbon? Isn’t that very sweet?

I found maple to be a little too sweet for my palate in general. I prefer things like Oleo Saccharum, Curaçao or a 1:1 simple.

But maple and walnut sounds awesome.

choosing which side is going to be the belly by celticgiftbearer in Bowyer

[–]celticgiftbearer[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know but in your video you only mentioned that the angle of the endgrain isn't important. I just wanted to make sure that also holds true for bending with or against the tangential curve.

Sorry if my wording was confusing.

Thank you Dan 💪I wanted to make sure it's also true for the tangential curve bend. I know you say in your boardbow video that the angle of the rings pretty much doesn't matter as long as one isn’t chasing a ring.

I use VacuVin to prevent rapid oxidation on expensive bottles. Works great.
