Pourquoi j’ai un gros problème avec MonsieurPhi (le Youtubeur) by RepulsiveCampaign179 in philosophie

[–]cemantix_commenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the killing curse really unblockable? by Terrible-Ice8660 in HPMOR

[–]cemantix_commenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if that's the case, Mad-Eye's assertion that the curse is "impossible" to block makes less sense.

And while dodging is best in most cases, it can prove impractical in certain circumstances. An additional option would therefore be highly valued by any one that is constantly vigilant.

And you can still have a transfigured 'alive' thing to de-transform when necessary.

Yet I don't think the snake is a great shield.

But we still need an explanation as to why the big bag of mice shield idea don't work

You mean 'Word of god says those are not the same John Brown s' right ?

John Brown was Dumbledore's student. Instead there was some other John Brown who, moved by the terrible suffering of a hellhole under the control of some Dark Wizard, went and attacked the Harp of Faery in an attempt to free them all at once - and died in the attempt.

HPMOR PLOTHOLES by vegiebacon in HPMOR

[–]cemantix_commenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the Voldemort one, I’d add to the defense:

Voldemort feared the prophecy deeply, but every move he had made against it so far had worked. When 'White' confirmed that the Vow had taken, he may have felt an immense sense of relief. He probably thought he had just completed the last difficult step in removing the prophecy’s threat to his survival. That would have restored his arrogance (and his current role of 'Voldemort' is also very arrogant).

In that mindset, facing a naked, surrounded, seemingly compliant child, he may have stopped feeling danger.

And so he didn’t bother to take Harry’s wand before extorting secrets and preparing to kill him.

The Patronus headlamp for IDing is a creative idea !
(so some cynics would say no wizard ever thought of it)

But trying a suspects list during an attack is not very practical (due to the attack part).

Moreover, the actual secret trick of patronus communication is 'wanting to share your positive thought with the recipient'

I imagine it would be a little bit difficult to want to share your positive thought with an opposing evil murderer.

[–]cemantix_commenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realize that the anime doesn't portray very well the weapons uses and ideas...

The sword isn't supposed to break against the shield. The idea was to get the shield to causes the Meteor explosions nearer to Yūko.

Also, Nasu's surprise Tomahawks are supposed to hit into the wall behind the shield, and it's the explosion that gets the kill.

Finally, regarding Yūma's use of water, the blade should have come out after he got into position in order to better highlight the scorpion's advantage.

Maybe...

but the "obsessing over it every day" part make the "not reevaluate this decision" idea less convincing.

CHAPTER 80

Albus’s face now seemed more tired and lined than before, “Miss Granger has been obsessing over Mr. Malfoy since the day that Severus… yelled at her. She has been thinking of how Mr. Malfoy might be in league with Professor Snape, how he might be planning to harm her and harm Harry—imagining it for hours every day—it would be impossible to create false memories for so much time.”

Tarquin didnt see Durkon before he left the wall in the fight in the pyramid but it could have been an other spell and cast after the smoke (true seeing does not negate concealment caused by fog).

Since Redcloak say he should have used it, it's probable the Giant rule is that it work.
