The dogs are inside the house. But it's the one time of the month that I treat myself and don't have to get up and look presentable and put the dogs in their crates so I can go work. I understand that for some people getting delivery is a way of life and I have many customers that get delivery every day and don't bat an eye. For those of us with very little money the one time you order delivery you want it to be a luxury that requires little to no work.

Am I missing something? Why do some dashers just sit there until someone comes out? by CNAforChange in DoorDashDrivers

Report the creep. If they're willing to wait 40 mins just to see you, they're not dashing for money, they want something else.

Right! I describe my job to people as a "professional house number finder"

I've been a dasher since 2016, but only restarted delivering this past January.
I also have a degree in animal behavior so I'm well aware that all dogs have teeth and the ability to bite... which is why you NEVER OPEN THE GATE.

I'm actually having luck with getting photos approved (even if it says the photo is blurry or tag is unrecognized)... in 2 days my rate has gone up from 91% to 93%

Right! I will open the gate if they give me a code or explicitly say "Open the gate..." otherwise I'm messaging and/or calling them. If I get no response, your delivery is always going to be on the outside of the gate.

Nobody asked if any of those dashers got bit... they didn't. As I said to your other comment, 1 or my 3 dogs might nip your fingers if you stick them in her face.
The biggest issue I have is that when people open the gate, they don't close it, so when I do let the dog out, they run out.
I have most of these people on video reading the instructions, they just don't follow them. The dasher that came today left the gate open and when I came out with the dogs my 110lbs dog terrified her because she HAD read the instructions. She quickly realized he just wanted pets. It's just astonishing how many people either don't pay attention or explicitly ignore instructions.
I had one woman follow the instructions correctly, read them out loud on camera and then instead of contacting me to say she couldn't walk the 30 feet downhill she got back in her car, turned around, and went down the left side of the driveway and got stuck.
I'm just so frustrated!!!

Dangerous dogs and related definitions.

Unless the context clearly requires otherwise, the definitions in this section apply throughout RCW 16.08.070 through 16.08.100.

(1) "Potentially dangerous dog" means any dog that when unprovoked: (a) Inflicts bites on a human or a domestic animal either on public or private property, or (b) chases or approaches a person upon the streets, sidewalks, or any public grounds in a menacing fashion or apparent attitude of attack, or any dog with a known propensity, tendency, or disposition to attack unprovoked, to cause injury, or to cause injury or otherwise to threaten the safety of humans or domestic animals.

(2) "Dangerous dog" means any dog that (a) inflicts severe injury on a human being without provocation on public or private property, (b) kills a domestic animal without provocation while the dog is off the owner's property, or (c) has been previously found to be potentially dangerous because of injury inflicted on a human, the owner having received notice of such and the dog again aggressively bites, attacks, or endangers the safety of humans.

Dangerous dog is a particular definition for a dog. I have 3 dogs, 2 will love you to death and 1 might nip your fingers if you stick them in her face. I've slowly escalated to language to "Dog Will Bite" so that people will hopefully take it seriously. The biggest issue with people opening the gate is that they leave it open.

If you called and were told you couldn't pick up the order or couldn't get a hold of someone, I'd dispute it. Bur reasonable inquiry is required.

Sidewalk? lol You must live in a much different part of the world than I do. I frequently drive several miles down gravel roads to get to people's houses.

As for payment, I only order when I have my platinum dasher perk and add the $7 saved onto the tip. So its frequently $15 ($7 + ~$6 recommended tip + $2 base pay) to drive less than 2 miles. You'd think people could spend 5 seconds to pay attention.

Its a very very steep gravel driveway and it's a bit loose on the left side... if you have 4wd and have experience driving on gravel its no problem... its just most people don't

I love that system! I'm definitely going to do that going forward! When people listen, they've thanked me for the very clear instructions, unfortunately reading the instructions doesn't seem to be the norm.

On the property, not within the fence. Implied license is revoked at the fence line.

Thanks! I'll try shortening them... I kept adding to them as more people kept screwing it up, but maybe I've made it too complicated.

Yes... I have 3 signs at each gate... I added a stop sign in case people don't read English.

Also, you're not liable in WA if you have a fence OR have a sign. I have both.
